Nice display Matt13.

D-CHAOS cheers, I cant wait until I finally get my marines to display on the dio.
The only Marine gear I have at the minute is the helmets, I looked through the whole thread and used the techniques stated. Though I didn't have the balls to add the extra colors needed to make them screen accurate.

Normal colonial marine helmet redone.

Hudson's helmet. Still have to add the rips in the fabric at the front of the helmet and maybe darken up on some areas.

Thats great weathering and detail on those helmets, my friend. I've finally managed to locate some marines. I'm so excited that I've already started to build a dio for them, hope I haven't jinked the deal.

Cheers man, I did exactly the same as you, I built my dio before I had any of my marine stuff. My marines should be with me in a week or so I will put up some pics then.

I think that he used the sovereign armsleeves.
Sovereign studio here on the board sells those easy 2 add sleeves.
Sovereign studio has got normal guy sleeves and muscle arm sleeves. Realy great stuff!!!.

Its actually the body used for the watchmen comedian.I think its the same body they used for their wolverine just without the hair painted on

Excellent weathering job on those lobster plates! Especially in this pic, it looks like real metal under worn-off paint. Very impressive. You might want to weather/fade the green web straps just a wee bit, so they blend in better with the rest of the wear on the helmet. That should make the whole effect just about perfect, I recon.

If you don't mind a little encouragement, why not practice painting the camo pattern with SA colors on something else until you're confident enough to paint it on the helmets? :D

Cheers, I really should try to practice on something until I feel I'm ready but Its taken me so long to get a few figures and bits of them that if I messed them up I think I'd go crazy.lol
Maybe I will after I try it on something I don't care about.
After I took those pics I added rips in the front of the helmet and lightened the helmet side straps but forgot the back ones, cheers for reminding me.

Your helmets look awesome man!!!, Good S#it.
And that pack of Famous sigaretes, pure geniusness.
Not 2 forget., that very nice lookin display diorama., Your figures will look even more awesome dispayed on that piece.

Thanks 4 calling me big balled.LOL
I understand what you R saying , I had the same feeling on that.
.I just started collecting these figures sins mid last year, and it cost me more then enough.
hey i took me a while 2 make that choice But,
i do not regret.:banana:banana
I dont got much experience in model painting.:D
mainly got the idea from Sideshow/member Space jockey,.
If you do make the choice of adding the ochre and so
then use acrilics at first. easy 2 work & experiment with, and easy 2 remove if U dont like how it looks.
Take a look at Space jockey´s tutorial on page78 in this thread.

BTW thanks 4 your info Dano but , i think that i will buy a airbrush set 4 the dark look on the armor.

Thats exactly the same body I was going to use for my Vasquez, its a good choice.:D
That or the Cuban body.If you try to remove the tat from the sheeva body DO NOT use acetone.I used acetone on my original Vasquez body and she melted:horror

Dano669: Sorry you found out the hard way, but acetone is the absolute worst possible thing you could ever use on your expensive plastic figures! Not only will it melt plastic, it will also do a pretty job killing your brain cells as well! :horror

If you really need to use some sort of solvent on your figures, try a small amount of denatured alcohol or acrylic paint thinner on the end of a Q-tip/cotton swab, and see if you can soften the material you want to remove without causing a reaction with the surface of the plastic. If it works, go slow! Remove a tiny bit at a time, and be watchful for any sort of adverse reaction with the plastic's surface. Rinse with water and a little dish soap when you're done.

If you still need something stronger, you might try a tiny amount of lighter fluid instead, which sometimes works for removing things such as gummy tape residue and so on. I wouldn't recommend using anything stronger than that, though, or you run the risk of damaging the surface of the plastic. If possible, always try to test it first on a tiny area that won't show in case you mess up. :D

Me lose brain OH-OH :lol
Yeah I agree that stuff is pretty bad.I only use it when Im outside so I should be Ok.I wasnt thinking when I did it and I only did it because I used a paint brand that I should have know better than to use.
On the plus side though I now have an excuse to get a better looking body for my Vas.What I want to do with her is try to mix a male and female HT body.I want to remove the male arms and attach the to the Ht female.Ive gone through this forum and seen some of the things people have done to thicken up the arms on her and Imo the arm sleeves look, well a bit stupid(for her that is,they look cool on marines) .theyre way to big for starters, her arms are big but not THAT big.

Are you talking about those cheong sleeves ?
I dont like that look also, it makes her look a bit 2 big and 2 much of a man.
Maybe Sovereign studio has something up its sleeve, lol..
4 a simple and cheep way 2 give our HT female body,s some more flesh.
The man behind Sovereign said something about special red helboy sleeves so i gues the step on female sleeves is not that far away.
I already got 1 Sheva Alomar body ready for me, i got it for 55 dollar inclu shipment from HK to the netherlands.
not bad right?:D

Cheers for the info guys I have another helmet on the way so maybe I will give it a go on it, I also have Vasquez head but was unsure as to what body to go for, I was thinking the same as dano669 by trying to use male arms on a hot toys female.
