Just tried to hit the "buy now" button and a pop up message said, "sorry, this item is currently out of stock." Weird that its not on a waitlist. I'm guessing that the QC on this amazing piece was such a pain that they aren't going to make any more.

I could imagine it was a rather daunting task to make sure both were looking their best and working. QC nightmare.

I imagine it will be "checking" until they get in on Monday and then either mark it "Out of Stock" and begin a waitlist, or figure out they have 2-3 more. Really, this is the end!

That piece inside him rattles inside him and I guess that was the glue holding it in place.

I encountered a similar problem on my copy : a square piece of metal was peeled off. it is not the part attached to the body of R2 , right, allowing the restraining bolt snapped : it is always present. It is indeed one, a second plate attached to the inside, to the rear, against serving to counterweight, so that when R2 does not fall, when the center leg is retracted.
Because I will display it on his three legs : it's not too annoying for me : even in this relatively stable position, there is no risk of falling
And bad luck, I droped the dome of R2 , which has resulted in a return to the three spotlight inside the dome ! I successfully removed the broken pieces of plastic to put the spotlight in place, but I had to fix it by gluing so that it falls back inside.
Fortunately, the light-up still works perfectly
