I don't have the first 3PO, but after this announcement, I'm definitely feeling for those of you who do. You don't hand over $650 to be served this type of situation. With nearly an UNLIMITED pool of characters to mine, there is no forgiving a double up on one with such a trivial difference.

Ugh. As if the announcement of the re-release of the Hot Toys OC Batman got me all riled up this morning...could you imagine my dismay seeing another release of this bust. I just put the reg C3PO bust on Flex Pay last month when they had some more in stock. Today is simply not a good day. I think I'm going to wind up re-evaluating this hobby eventually...

I just got the 3PO bust on the threads. With this announcement I should have waited and watched the bottom drop out of this. So disappointing and I am just getting into sideshow.

Yeah, Sideshow has already shown for some time now that they are the Hsabro of the collecting community.

Hello from Chicago... I just received my C-3PO a week or so ago... and think I like the look of my #060 dirty one over the new clean version. I love this thing...

I don't have any other life-size figures/statues... whatever they would be called.

I have always liked 3-CPO, he is what I remember seeing first in Star Wars after the ships... so I identify C-3PO as the first cool thing in Star Wars for me.

Paying $650 was not a big deal for me... having #060 is cool... but I don't see myself ever selling it... so the money was worth it and another model out there does not lessen the value for me.

I keep looking at it when I start working and it makes me smile... so, I don't mind this new version... I understand other people being upset, but I am collecting for me... not for the rarity of the piece.

As an owner of the first bust all I have to say is...

Yeah well, now your beloved C-3po has been reduced to a highly NOT sought after collectible that has a resale value of about $300 bucks.....

if that!

I don't think you can say that. They did essentially the same thing with the Terminator endoskull busts, and those have maintained their value. Heck, even the really unpopular life sized busts like Bossk sell for more than that.

I would prefer that they specified an edition size right now though. If it was around 250, the total number of both versions would still be around the same size as some other busts like Boba Fett.

I'm not defending it, but is it really that different than the battle damaged Iron Man or the battle damaged Endoskull busts? To be honest, I think the owners of the 1:1 figure have more cause to be angry about Sideshow releasing these busts right after the figures sold out. I know if both the bust and figure had been available at the same time, I might very well have gone with the bust since it's 1/10th the price.

First the Stormtrooper PF and now this bust--simply "Limited Edition." And to make matters worse, this generic "Limited Edition" is a re-release of a previous product. I'm going to be very uncomfortable if this new trend becomes the norm. I am more comfortable paying hundreds of dollars for a "limited" collectible if it is a uniquely hand numbered piece out of a specific, stated edition--printed on the bottom of the base. "Limited" is going to become quite literally meaningless.

$650, edition size TBD.

SS must be out of their **** mind. It's so sad how far SS has fallen, they keep shooting themselves in the foot.

Thank god we have hot toys and they are getting better with every release.

I dunno, I don't even collect the 1:1 or PF stuff, and this move has me confounded and irritated. It seems like the collectors of those lines are paying a lot more per pop than we 1:6 folks and should enjoy some degree of exclusivity on an item marketed as "limited" (besides, for the most part, we action figure types tend to like repaints of things like clones to build up our 'armies' - they represent new characters for our collections). Is there even a need or outcry from collectors for another run of "clean" C-3PO? How many scenes contain "clean" C-3PO? Maybe 20 seconds worth in ROTS and a couple blink-and-you'll-miss-'em shots at the end of ANH? It seems stupid. The only result can be to anger those who already have the original bust. Bad, BAAAAD decision making, the kind that drives people away from collecting, rather than luring them in...

....and all the while the original C-3PO 'non-special' edition bust is still in stock......

Yeah, it pisses me off when they play games with the collectors by removing it from stock to make it look like it's going to be sold out, so that people think that its harder to get a hold of so they get on the waitlist (which is emmedietly and mysteriously turned into an order) because they dont want to miss out. Then SS places it back in stock so other people jump on it because they think that there is only a few left and they still want to get a hold of the piece before its gone. Only to find out a week later that the company is now coming out with a rehashed version that has a slightly different paint job on it.

Get the ____ out of here Sideshow!
