I know this isn't the place for painting tips and tricks, but I've done my share of painting, and think I could do a pretty good job on those shields - except the stars. I'm curious how you get such nice clean stars? I'm thinking maybe you could find a variety of star shaped stickers that would be intended for scrapbooking, if you got the right size you could use those.
Just curious.
Yeah, I would suggest going to a craft hobby store and finding some star stickers...or even templates (which if you can't find at a craft store you will almost certainly find at an art store.
Frankly the painting of the shield looks to be one of the easiest customizations I've ever seen. Everything , including the stars, is made of straight lines. White acrylic to prime it and then you just mask off the two other colors with masking tape and trim that tape with an exacto knife and a flexible straight edge. Even the stars you can cut out of masking tape. Sketch them out in pencil for approximate size right on the tape, and then use a straight edge to tighten the sketch up as you cut.
The only thing I would curious about is whether the decal was stripped off or painted over. And if it was stripped off, was it just the front surface or was the whole piece stripped in an acetone or similar wash?
