Kitty Pryde or fail! :cuss

I will be holding my breathe. You hear me, SS? If I die, that blood is on your hands! :panic:

(Seriously though, make Kitty!)

Dagnabbit! My Cap's fly is open, he has some sloppy black paint on the scale armor, and there's a bit of dried glue on the round shield. This is really frustrating and I can't believe Sideshow let the kite shield pass as-is. It looks incredibly cheap and tacky. Something I would expect to see on a Hasbro toy. Otherwise this statue looks fantastic and I hope I can get these issues fixed.

Opened him up late last night just for inspection and he's absolutely perfect! #507 here. :yess: I made sure and checked for all the flaws I've seen with some Caps here. "A" misaligned? Nope. Thompson broke? Negatory. Belt buckle ends the same? Not this time. Pants fly not closed? It is. Shirt stripes not perfectly aligned? They are. Helmet buckle silver? You betcha! Scratches, bad paint, clothing rips, etc, etc.? Nothing. Not one flaw. So freaking happy right now! :banana:banana:banana

MY GOD this guy is AMAZING. I'm giggling like a little kid at Christmas today and last night. What an epic, perfect representation of Captain America! Sideshow absolutely NAILED it with this one. Spot on. Bravo!!! :clap

Here's a few crap iPhone pics. I personally like the kite shield and I can't tell there's a decal on it so that's what I'm going with for now, but I'm sure I'll switch him up periodically. All the options are just so awesome. This PF should definitely be up in the top 3 to 4 statues of the year, and perhaps win the whole shebang. It's that good. And IMO it's the best Captain America statue ever made.

Massive congrats buddy on your awesome Captain PF :clap always great to hear so many positive feedbacks for this piece and more evidence that Sideshow can indeed pull off some killer statues. This Cap PF is just pure win!

Btw guys, got a pic of my re-re-re-painted shield :lol decided to backtrack on the battle damage look I originally went for and opted for a brand new look ;) despite Cap being slightly weathered, I wasn't keen on the over excessive battle damage on the shield had so wanted the classic look...:)

Will get some pics done once the shield arrives back :)

Thanks Roberto! Nice looking shield (although I liked the BD look a tad more) :)

No worries buddy :) Yea, I guess ideally it would be nice to have a spare kite shield so I can have one clean and the other battle damaged that way I'd have the best of both worlds...it's just that when I look at my original Comic Captain America PF by sideshow, I just love the look of the classic clean shields :)

I think the clean look serves the first PF well. BD for this PF is a must IMO. Either way, that shield looks fantastic and I'm jealous that I can't have one.

Even though my preferred aesthetic version of this character (by a wide margin) is with his classic costume, I've had the opportunity to purchase this PF several times for a "good" price ($500 range) and each time I just couldn't do it. Even though the costume is 'right', the details are off to me. Especially in things like the boots which you can see clearly here. I'm a big fan of that fold over, swashbuckler style but the sculpture gets the structure all wrong here (and those cankles drive me nuts too). And while I don't recall ever seeing an artist in the Silver or Bronze age draw laces and buckles on them, whoever sculpted the boots on the Allied charge version absolutely DID understand the underlying structure and absolutely NAILED them.
I also love the longer, leaner physique on this one compared to the PF. I have a little easier time seeing this figure doing all kinds of acrobatic fighting that he was known for in the comics- but like the huge Thor PF, all I can see the earlier Cap figure doing is wrasslin'.

I very rarely felt regret over not picking up the earlier Cap. And now that this one is here, I'm beyond relieved that I don't already have that one taking up space in the closet. I like museum poses, and I like the original costume so I can understand why people will enthusiastically still covet and pursue that one...but I'm thrilled I've finally got "the one" Cap for me.
The next one to come along and supplant it would have to get so many things just right, I don't see it happening.
I guess that makes this a pretty epic release then, in my collection.

Though I gotta admit, the star on the back would have been nice to see.

Your shield looks good, Andy! :clap

I personally prefer the BD version and I'm looking to have someone customize my shield with BD. :D

Thanks Mark :hi5: really hope you can find someone to Repaint your shield Mark :) certainly makes this PF a faultless 10/10 if you do get the kite shield repainted :clap

Thanks buddy :hi5: lol I need to get a spare shield don't i ;) cos I love both the weathered and clean look :lol

Congrats on your new Cap :clap it's an awesome piece of that there is no doubt :exactly:

:goodpost: You bring up the one issue I have with the original Cap...the cankles. :gah:

If it weren't for those I'd still have my original Cap. But they annoyed the hell outta me. :lol

I hope I can find someone around here. Andy, your repainted shield is just screaming at me to find someone and do my shield justice! :lol :lol

I was thinking on asking my friend Darlene, an art teacher I work with, to take a look at my classic shield, she does some fantastic work. :D

If you do, I'll be right behind you, haha. Can't believe how Sideshow failed with that shield, a paint job just like they did with the round shield I think would've been perfect. It just looks so out of place and unrealistic with the rest of the statue with whatever they did, people say decals or something? I could never find the sticker.

I know this isn't the place for painting tips and tricks, but I've done my share of painting, and think I could do a pretty good job on those shields - except the stars. I'm curious how you get such nice clean stars? I'm thinking maybe you could find a variety of star shaped stickers that would be intended for scrapbooking, if you got the right size you could use those.

Just curious.

Agreed. Doesn't look right at all. I can't feel a sticker either, but it was a huge fail on SS part.

Hope it works out Mark :hi5: to be honest, I'm sure whatever Darlene can produce will be a 100% improvement on what sideshow have us :rock

I can't believe it either! Sideshow really let us down with that decal shield and just aswell their circle shield turned out great cos imagine the scandal if they'd sent us 2 decal shields :horror

Just goes to show what a difference it makes to have the kite shield repainted :)

I think in regards to the stars I think you'd need to mask them with masking tape while painting over them...:)
