Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

The Avengers sucks. All the Iron Man movies suck. The Dark Knight sucks. Batman sucks. The Amazing Spider-Man movies suck. The Spider-Man movies sucks. Thor movies suck. Captain America sucks. X-Men sucks. The Superman movies suck. Man of Steel sucks.

All overrated. Too dark. Too light. Too funny. Too serious. Too much action, not enough action. **** EM ALL.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Spartan made good points, but they were wasted on your bloated hyperbole fest.

I'm not sure how it was a "bloated hyperbole fest." The first paragraph, or so, absolutely, but that was in direct response to Jye's post, which relegated the film to it's humorous and action-oriented elements, and, maybe it's because I grew up in a different era (a later one where comics relied on more complex storylines), but, for me, comics were great because of their stories. Sure, there were elaborate battles, and, occasionally, some levity, but, at the end of the day, I read comics because they were chock full of some of the best stories of some of my favorite characters. I'm not sure how something would be "lost on me," though. If it's because I'm some sort of DC fan who hates fun, in your eyes, I can assure you that's not the case, and I'd say that my love of the other Marvel movies should say otherwise, as well. I'm also a Whedon fan, and I've watched Buffy and Angel for many years. I just don't "get" The Avengers is all, and that's not me saying I hated it; I'd say that I've made it more than clear that isn't the case. I just don't think it's quite as good as it's made out to be, is all.

Yeah, first paragraph to a retarded degree. Way to start off. The rest of it, just random ramblings because some other person posted what they loved about the Avengers. If it was supposed to showcase your deep thought as an insightful thinker maybe you shouldn't lead with the equivalent of a Family guy monologue.

I just don't get what's with all of the hostility, on your front. As far as the first part goes, as I said, it was in response to Jye's post, which, maybe I assumed wrongly had a somewhat tongue in-cheek vibe, with regards to the list of fight scenes and such, so, I followed suit. Would it have been better if I'd included one of these at the end:":lol?" The second part is more in line with my actual feelings about the film, I never wanted to show how "deep and insightful" I was; I've even self-deprecatingly acknowledged that I'm probably the one with something wrong with them for not loving the film; I was just trying to illustrate, to a degree, how I see it.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Iron Man one stuck the perfect balance of humor, action, and drama. Every MSU movie after just doesn’t compare in my opinion. Avengers had the action and comedy, but not enough drama, Iron Man 2 had too much comedy, decent action but not enough drama, Captain America had the drama and comedy down pretty good but the action was severely lacking, among other things, Thor 1 had the comedy and drama, etc…

I prefer some movies stick to one tone, trying to make a movie appeal to everyone doesn’t usually shows me the filmmakers and studios care more about the money, than how good these movies turn out. Phase 2 has been really subpar compared to phase 1, hopefully TWS will be as awesome as it looks.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

I agree, Iron Man 1 was the best Marvel film to date, IMO. I like Avengers/Thor/Cap 1 all pretty equal.

I have been a bit let down by Iron Man 3 and Thor 2... but I am insanely excited for Cap 2 so I hope it doesn't let me down. Iron Man 2 was my least favorite of all their films so far.

I'm hostile now?

You act like I told you if you were too stupid to understand the statement, "Although I think your point is wasted on intended target." you should go kill yourself.

Jesus dude, get a grip. We get it, you're conflicted about the Avengers.

Incredible Hulk was so forgettable that I find myself actually forgetting it existed. I would go with that as the worst film in universe to date, but Iron Man 2 and 3 aren’t far behind in my opinion. I liked Thor 1 and Cap 1, but they could have been much better. Sometimes these movies just feel limited because they have to work in a shared universe. Shockingly I didn’t like the Avengers, I thought the action was cool, but the rest came off as real mediocre for me.

Well, it comes down to opinion. The weird part is that most people put Avengers and Iron Man in their top spots for the Marvel chain (with a few throwing in Cap or Thor). I find it odd that given its popularity and kick start to the franchise, Marvel has never gotten the team that created Iron Man back together. I could understand if the writers were busy at various times, but in 6 years none of them have ever been back to work on a Marvel flick? Just seems weird they don't go with their obvious favorites. Unless they really believe the success was 100% RDJ and that IM would have been the same hit regardless of what was thrown up on the screen.

Suddenly, I'm crazy for picking up on it? You're telling me there was honestly no hostility present in your posts? If that's the case, then fine by me, and I apologize for reading too much into what, from looking at the various posts, seemed like some very present snarky undertones.:lol

:exactly:

:lol yeah I actually forgot about the Hulk movie with Norton... but I still thought that was better than Iron Man 2 :lol

Avengers 1 was good to me... but I felt like it had a lot of filler in the middle. But still that end battle was like a fan boy wet dream for me (that whole circular group shot is still epic whenever I see it)

I hope the sequel focuses on some of the more interesting characters this time around, the whole notion of a character like Widow having more screen time because she doesn't have her own solo films is ********. The fact that she can't carry her own solo film is just more evidence that she should be a side character when all the big guns are in the same movie. I'm excited for Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and the Vision.

If that were the case, it'd be quite ironic considering the fact that that was the one name they refused to look at, until Favreau pushed the topic.:lol It is curious that they've never had them back for anything outside of the first two films, though.

Which in itself is odd when you look at what happened to IM2. On paper, you still have the Star and the director, they just switched writers and ended up with a discombobulated mess. Of course there all the he said/she said, what the studio pushed, changing up some cast.

I didn't know that Favreau had to push to get the studio to look at RDJ, but now it clicks, I remember an old interview where he was talking about his casting call and he said one of the execs walked him out (don't remember the name) and he felt he was being given the "Don't call us, we won't call you speech" on the way to his car and he said he was utterly shocked when he got the part.

Iron Man 2, I felt was a "necessary evil," when it comes to Marvel's plan. It was a decent movie, but I think Marvel said "okay, we've already had the movie that sets up Iron Man for the big team-up, so, maybe, let's just use this one to set up some of the other players, like SHIELD, and Black Widow." Iron Man 2 was more exposition for The Avengers, and I think, while that's why it suffered, it was also a necessity that had to happen, sooner or later.

As for RDJ and Marvel, I'm trying to recall where I heard it. I can't remember if it was an interview, or, it might have even been a special feature on the DVD, but I remember something about "You can have anyone except Robert Downey Jr." and him saying he wanted Robert Downey Jr.:lol

Thank god for Favreau.

I'm still haunted by Cruise saying he was interested in being Tony Stark back in the day. :lol

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Personally I don't want Iron Man and Dr Doom remaking "My Dinner With Andre".
Ironically back in the good old days, films used to contain action, drama, comedy, romance. Todays audiences are apparently incapable of processing so many levels of story telling. Probably why everything is classified into a "genre".
