Anyone else not like Sharon in Winter Soldier? I just don't like her and Steve as a couple at all, but of course they are going to develop that more in CW.

I also don't get why someone else has to become Captain America if something happens to Steve. Are they going to replace Tony with someone else as Iron Man or a new guy as Hawkeye?

^ I'm not a fan of the Steve/Sharon pairing for the MCU. I get that they were a big deal in the comics, but with TFA making the Steve/Peggy romance so poignant and powerful I do not care to see Steve end up with a relation of Peggy's. I would prefer him falling for someone different, with no connection to Peggy, and I think that would look better for the character.

Sharon will just be Peggy 2.0, and what's worse an ACTUAL relation, and IMO, there's not a good way to sell that in the MCU that can make it palatable.

I've noticed a lot of people assume that you hate Sharon if you don't want her with Steve and that's not true. I'm very indifferent to her character right now. I'm just not a fan of a romantic pairing between her and Cap, given how strong the MCU made the romance with Peggy. I think allowing his character to fall for someone completely different, no relation to his first love, will allow him to both move on in a healthier way, and respect his first romance.

Even if it's written as well as it can be, it still won't sit right with me.

I don't like nor do I dislike the idea of a pairing of them, we didn't really see enough to gauge any kind of connection past some awkward looks in the corridor which may have been simply part of her cover for Agent 13. The only thing remotely linking the pair romantically was Widow constantly asking "how about the Nurse", always wondered if she knew that she was actually SHIELD.

Other than that she appeared to be a capable and trustworthy SHIELD Agent; whether she sides with fellow SHIELD alumni in Cap, Widow and Hawkeye (in whatever mix side with Cap) or backs the Government and Stark is the question.

Cap is a symbolic figure and a core part of the Avengers. Why shouldn't he be replaced? Now as far as Tony is concerned, after the comic version of CW, he went on to be the head of Shield. I could see this happening in the MCU also. Iron Man may not be needed in the next Avengers movie as it appears that War Machine is going to be the "iron" component of the team now.

I agree with you :)

If Peggy hadn't been any kind of love interest for Steve then it would be fine, but is weird getting involved with Sharon being her relative.

Even in AoU they show Peggy in Steve's vision, so she's such an important person in his life.

I was kind of hoping they'd have something happen to Peggy and she'd reverse age lol.

Well in the comics Bucky took over the Cap mantle so I think people are making the connection that it could happen in the films too (if Evans wants out, if Steve dies, etc.)

Steve needs to move on from the past (this includes Peggy). I think developing his relationship with Sharon Carter is a great idea. I wouldn't be surprised if they were already a couple in Civil War.

I know people wanting Falcon to be Cap as well, but he is just an ordinary human without any extra ability, so unless they alter him, I don't see why they would make him Cap.
I know Bucky went under the same procedure as Steve, so he is the best candidate as his replacement.

I don't know, it's just Steve will always be Captain America to me, just like Bruce Wayne is Batman and Peter Parker is Spider-Man. I'm not too fond of the replacement idea.

Is there always a Captain America in the Avengers team?

In the comics, as in the first Avengers run, Cap did not show up until issue #4. The members in #1 were Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant Man, and Wasp. I do totally agree with you about the replacement idea. Steve will always be Cap to me, and Peter will always be Spidey. I was so glad when they announced that Spidey would be Peter in this movie.

Steve hooked up with both Peggy AND Sharon in the comics I just see it happening in the movies as well. Yeah it was kinda weird to me at first but I'm already over it. Steve said himself that he had to get over it and Peggy wanted him to move on. Other than that, I was so ****ing excited that we were finally getting Sharon in the MCU. I can't wait to see them get more development.

I couldn't care less about that character.

He is just Marvels copy of the Flash so in essence a pointless and unoriginal character.

How many characters in DC vs Marvel are either unashamably a direct copy of one from the other universe, or are close enough they might as well be? You could say the same about Hawkeye and a whole heap of others..

And...

Nitpick point... Do we call him an Avenger in this movie? Scarlet Witch will be in the next, but to me the twins were just heel/face turn antagonists/allies in this movie..

I think that it's mostly Marvel who copies DC characters and they should stop with that because originality is always best and yeah I would take the Green Arrow golden age version over movie Hawkeye any day of the week.

I hate it when people refer to him as Bucky... that was in a past life before he got frozen in ice for a long time and then lost his left arm.

His new identity is as the Winter Soldier and for him to put on Captain America's costume would just be silly but I guess that's what comics are... silly.

Not only that, but Bucky makes the more interesting character to take over from Steve as Captain America. I love Sam, he's a good character, but he doesn't come with demons and baggage like Bucky - and that sets Bucky apart from Steve, which is what adds depth to the story and the character trying to live up to his best friend. With Bucky Cap there is added conflict and drama there that is story and character rich in a way Falcon Cap would not be.

Having said that, I don't necessarily need to see Steve die or be replaced - I love Steve. I would be okay with him taking a break though and coming back, and getting Bucky in the suit for a while. Even if Steve dies (which I would rather they not do - they could have another reason to pass the suit to Bucky), it isn't like he doesn't come back, so it isn't like you lose the character forever. And maybe they could keep Evans around longer if he's able to take a break.

But if not, then that would be fine with me - as long as I get more Bucky. And MS would be idiotic not to take advantage of the talent they have in Sebastian Stan - he's every bit as good as Evans, Hiddleston, and the others. Probably even better than some of them.

Instead I'm worried they'll do something stupid and kill Bucky off in Civil War, which would heavily damage my love for this franchise.

Yeah I can agree with this though I highly doubt they're gonna kill Bucky. I'd actually not want them to kill anyone in this movie. Kinda makes me sad that everyone expects at least someone to die in these movies now. I'd actually like to see a movie where no one dies. Maybe a slightly smaller supporting character in the story, but not a major one. Civil War. Who dies? Goliath. No one really big but it moved the story forward. Happens in comics all the time, why not do it in the movies? Defeat your villain and let's move on. Go put them away. But only kill a major character if you have a damn good reason to. and I mean a DAMN good reason. I didn't think Pietro needed to die. The main reason they did was just to fridge him. Meh. Loved Pietro.

I personally want Sam to be Cap for selfish reasons. I am tired of POC only getting sidekick/support roles in all these comic properties. And other than Black Panther there is no other main black lead character. 1 black male and absolutely no women of color. I want Sam to take over as Cap because I want someone on screen that looks like me to be the hero. I want someone my son can look at and get giddy about seeing. 12 movies in and it won't be until 2018 that a POC is given the forefront of one of these films. That sucks!

I love Evans, and wish he would stay. But I understand he wants to pursue other things. I loved his work in Snowpiercer so if he is going to do more stuff like that, I will be there. And he will always be my Captain America. But if the mantle must be passed, as much as I like Bucky(I would rather they take him and Widow on Bourne like adventures for SHIELD) I would prefer Sam to follow Steve.
