They are a bit stupid, and now Marvel let Whedon turn the most popular female superhero into a girl that loves green monsters and doesn't want to be a superhero anymore, hopefully the Russo brothers will amend for his sins

Holee shiiiieeeeeet. Like seriously I get it, some folks didn't like/buy it, but for god's sake it's not like Whedon committed the greatest mortal sin! :rotfl

Also she's still a superhero, and doesn't settle down or anything of the sort to "ruin" the character just because she had a momentary thing for Banner. Spoilers but not really I guess? :lol

They both needed a win(like Cap said). They can never have a happy ending, or be with normal people... why the hell not?

I usually don't read reviews but this is spot on:

"Meanwhile, the usually wickedly-entertaining Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) is essentially reduced to swooning with hearts in her glossy googly eyes over a Hulking Dr. Banner (Mark Ruffalo). I know most audiences who are planting their $15 down for this movie aren’t going to be basing their enjoyment of this film on whether it features decent gender representation, but we’ve seen what Marvel has done with the Black Widow character before in Captain America: Winter Soldier and with the eponymous character in television series Agent Carter, so by this stage portrayals of female characters shouldn’t be this regressively simplistic."

She goes from clearing the red in her ledger, love is for children, my covers are blown, to wanting to fly into the sunset like a lovesick fickle teenager.

She somehow is captured and unable to escape prison, wakes up shaking, only meant to be rescued by her knight in shining armor, Bruce Banner so they can finally run away together.

She gets no scenes to reflect on how she handles the after events of tws, so characterization from previous movie is COMPLETELY ignored

I could go on... but I but I'm not trying to convince you that I'm right I'm just letting you know why I hate this so much

She should be with someone else? Why? And it's actually a lot more realistic for her to be with some random guy she works with then anyone else. Look at people in real life. Its not like people end up with who we would pick. So who cares? That's a silly thing to get caught up with. With the avengers team he's really the only option anyway. Barton's got his stuff plus, more brother/sister relationship. Stark taken. Thor, taken. Cap would never just becuase of the history, and again, more brother sister it seems. So, why not Banner? He's not bad looking, he's super smart, has a dark side sure.

They're from me, I broke the scoop. I'm also a member at SHH forums so shared it there too.

I probably won't end up buying anything from the CW line, especially since I'm still recovering from the AoU line. I still prefer AoU Cap over CW, and while I like the Mk46 a little more than the Mk45 (better balance of red and gold), I'm not a big fan of the inverted trapezoid shape on the chest, plus it's not a dramatic change from the 45 and I wasn't planning to buy the 45 anyway. If War Machine does get a new suit and it looks incredible, then I may reconsider.

Another Team Cap vote from me btw.

I thought it was from you (I just couldn't remember your exact username); just wanted to make sure credit went where it was due. Also, thanks for posting the CW Cap photoshop!

I don't disagree that she could have had something more (I definitely agree about the TWS aftermath shock) but rather, I've seen enough folks going on about how the little subplot somehow completely ruined her character, which is just crazy hyperbole in my eyes.

Again, I didn't think it was great, but it wasn't as damaging as some folks make it out to be. Hell I thought Banner was the one who was reduced to being the "damaged goods" love interest and not the other way around. :lol

pretty much, the big guy became the pitty beacon of the movie, legit felt bad for both Hulk/Banner almost everytime they got screen time, specially at the end...lol

Actually it's not her choice, Whedon has a thing for short hair and look what happened ...

Completely agree. :goodpost:

... you do understand this film takes place a good time after The Avengers, right?
Her character started to shift in The Winter Soldier imho.

Didn't she have a thing with Hawkeye in the comics and there's always the Winter Soldier.

Obviously team IM. I think the split so far will be:

Team IM
IM
Scarlet Witch
War Machine
Crossbones
Black Panther

Team Cap
Cap
Black Widow
Hawkeye
Winter Soldier
Falcon

No way Black Panther sides with Stark too many points of conflict, they both are extremely smart, Tony wants to protect the world, T'Challa would see that as interference. He will be with Cap. In the comics there are many connections between Cap and Panther and he helps Cap. If I had to guess he might even supply Caps side with tech and resources, sort of like the comics as well. I'd side with Cap

Scarlet Witch hates Tony. And why is Crossbones there?

My List:

Team Tony - War Machine, Hawkeye, Hulk, Vision, Ant-Man, Wasp.
Team Cap - Falcon, Widow, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Bucky, Black Panther.
Team Jacob - Me.

I was hoping she would go off and disappear.. :lol

I rather see more Scarlet Witch, Sharon Carter and new female additions to the team.

She's earned her place as much as the big boys (Tony, Thor, Steve, Hulk). Her prominence has never meant that other female characters couldn't also become prominent. We have plenty of the guys that are featured and important. We can have the other females without losing Widow, which is how I prefer it. She's my favorite Avenger next to Cap.

As far as the complaints about her in AOU go, I understand some of them. I wasn't very impressed with what they did with her in this film, other than the flashback scenes with her past.

There was one scene in particular between her & Banner that rubbed me the wrong way.
It was the farmhouse scene where she reveals she's sterile. Not the fact that she was, but how the scene was written. I wasn't feeling Bruce/Nat in general and think it kind of hurt her character that they had her contemplating running away with him, but I was at least satisfied with how they ended their relationship - she was the stronger one. She was the one that had her doubts and her insecurity and still stayed while he basically ran away.

I really, really, REALLY hope the Russo brothers leave that relationship as a one and done with this film and move her character forward. They did the best by her character with TWS.

And yes, I am a big Natasha/Bucky fan, so I hope for that, too.

I didn't like the way they used her either Sundowner for the reasons you stated. There is a saying, you don't **** where you eat. Dating in the workplace will only end in problems. It was convenient and lazy plotline writing. IMO.

Team Tony +1

It looks like Whedon liked the idea of them being together so much that he couldn't see beyond his own desire

I don't think the character was ruined forever but it was really bad. I agree about Hulk, he was reduced to being damaged goods as well

I'm glad SW is part of the team that means BW won't be the only love interest available for everyone anymore :lol

JK I'm sure the Russo brothers will give her a good story

:goodpost: :exactly: I agree completely

In the comics she can't have... you know, because of the super soldier serum, so Whedon felt like changing her back story just to make that scene.
