Re: Captain America 3 (May 6, 2016)

I wonder if the fact that Gone Girl is number one for the second weekend in a row, while The Judge opened at fifth, domestically, is indicative of how the Batman V. Superman and Cap V. Iron Man fight is going to go down? :lol

Because Gone Girl is pretty good.

The Judge is a been there done that.

Bruce Wayne 1

Tony Stark 0

If I remember correctly, the plot to Avengers 2 is that Tony Stark creates robots to help protect people and the robots become self aware, and turn on him. Thus creating ultron. So it seems that Stark has always had the desire to help and protect. So as a way of doing it he wants all the meta humans in the world to sign up and be counted. Cap feels this is a stripping away of the basic liberties that all Americans have which is touched on in Winter Soldier when Fury shows him the air ships. Cap oposses Stark, and we have a Civil War.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and half of Wednesday I prefer TIH Hulk look.

Other half of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday I prefer Avengers Hulk look.

I never prefer Ang Lee's Hulk look. :lol

I wonder if the Spider-Man deal actually happened and this is why the switch in plan from Infinity Gauntlet to Civil War. Spidey had a large role and this would be the way to get him involved and then deal with Thanos later.

Re: Captain America 3 (May 6, 2016)

I don't think Civil War was planned from the beginning. Heck Cap is borderline comic relief in The Avengers. I think the success of TWS has changed a lot of perspectives with the higher ups at Marvel. The Russo Bros were talking like Feige was giving them a lot of leeway in choosing what story to adapt next. They also mentioned that the success of GOTG is giving them the option to add more high fantasy to future Cap installments. I definitely don't think that anyone is constrained to any 2008 playbooks at this point.

The MCU Civil War really just might be a Cap vs. IM deal and that's it. Maybe in the movie the government will just want to dictate every move of the Avengers and Cap doesn't have it and goes AWOL and Stark goes after him. This would pull in themes from the "Cap No More" run in the 80's (where Cap and Stark actually did fight a couple of times) but still having Avengers team members pick sides to give it a little bit of a "civil war" vibe.

The government could appoint a new Cap to don the suit and send Stark to detain Rogers so that the public isn't confused by having two men claiming to represent the country's ideals. Throw in the Red Skull as the disguised government commissioner who is in charge of trying to regulate the Avengers and you've got the makings of a great movie that pulls themes from many eras of the comics.

I just hope they keep things fresh and different. Which I know they won't. Unless they have some great writers.

I doubt the movie will be a one Civil War though, Marvel is just pre gaming. Avengers 3 might be give us the real Civil War though.

But you know bats and supes are going to be BFFs in the movie. Maybe just an initial tussle like Iron Man and Thor. That Civil War movie treatment sounded galactically stupid. Never read the comics, but those have the luxury of rebooting or simply evolving over the course of several issues to set things back on track. Movies are a bit more permanent since they take so much time to make.
