Thanks man! Well, that's a tough one. With Prep, I can see Parker managing to break the force down and managing to "manipulate" it as well, to an extent. But, thing is, the Force is crazy stupid powerful, and Maul is crazy stupid good as well. I'm gonna go with Maul 6/10. Pete pulls his punches too much. Now, if this was SpOck, O'Hara or even Kaine, Maul would lose. As soon as Kaine unleashes The Other, fun time's over.

Good enough for me :)

Alright, I'll take you up on that, will read those this weekend if I can.

Good to hear! Ninjak is James Bobd X Batman, Bloodshot is Wolverine X Punisher set in Mad Max's world with a vibe of Apocalypse Now, and East of West is sci-fi Game of Thrones with the Horsemen of the Apocalypse and the Beast. It's good stuff. Just a warning, the first 2 are at issues 14 or so, and EoW at 25.

SPOILERS: I don't think "playing it safe " is the correct choice of words really. It's kind of the small things like seeing Rhodey in the leg things ( first I was thinking aw poor Rhodey will be wheel chair bound, then I realized wait he can just have stark make him something that makes it obsolete )

In the comics Stark invented just such a device for himself after his spine was shattered by Kathy Dares bullet which set up the precursor for Armour Wars II

Feige won't let these movies matter. There's too much focus on what's on next to let what's on now count for something.

I honestly wish they'd done Cap 3 as just Cap 3 and saved Civil War for after Infinity War - where they clearly want every costumed hero in their stable featured.

I do think that your complaints are valid and well articulated.

But for me at least I was able to move past that core issue and get myself engaged in their personal drama.

For example, when Stark said to Cap
"that shield doesn't belong to you, my father made it"
it resonated with me even though it wasn't a life ending event.

Truth be told this movie is already being hailed the best MCU movie, better than even TWS, and one of the best superhero movies ever made, up there with TDK, and you know what....I would have to agree.

Am I the only one who liked the villain? Sure, he doesn't his costume, but in a way he was like a Bond villain mixed with Lex Luthor and I thought he worked as a side character that was manipulating everything. If this is his origin...not bad. Hopefully he wears a costume eventually.

I'm with you on this one, Zemo was a better Bond villain than Blofeld from Spectre.

This movie may be better than TWS for me.... I'm almost certain of it.

It's more of a comicbook movie while retaining the quality of TWS.

At this point it's a question of what I'm in the mood for, a spy thriller or more action and drama.

I used to think MCU heavy hitter action was ****... Not anymore.

Blofeld is THE Bond villain. I did quite like Christoph Waltz's take on the character.

Though it has to be said, I do think Bruhl was better as Zemo. Really hope he returns fully suited at some point. Out of all the MCU villains we've had so far, he's the one that really deserves a second appearance.

Just got back from seeing it on the big screen and I think it's the best superhero movie of the year so far but overall it's still a 7/10 in my book. As usual, I found the acting and dialogue to be mediocre and there was just way too much fan service. Spiderman had no reason being in this movie at all, and while I liked Holland as Spidey I just couldn't appreciate anything he was really doing because he serves no purpose at all in the movie.

I thought Zemo was a waste, another forgettable Marvel villain. Hopefully they do more with him in the future but as of now he's as memorable as Robert Redford's character to me from TWS.
The action was solid, but nothing memorable at all, I preferred Winter Soldiers action to Civil War, I can't think of one memorable action scene in the movie that will be talked about years from now. Once again the humor got in the way of a lot of scenes for me, especially the airport fight, and I thought most the jokes fell flat. Honestly I think Hulk should have been in this movie and could have been the catalyst to spark the whole Registration act as opposed to Scarlett Witch conveniently slipping up and killing dozens of people. So many things felt forced when they didn't need to be. The only thing I think this movie did really well was not making one side completely right or wrong, both sides in my opinion were right and wrong and it's really what should have pushed the movie forward in my opinion.

Overall, I think it's the 3rd best MCU movie to date, but certainly not one of the best Superhero movies to date, it just had way too many cliches and fan service for me to appreciate the few things it did right, but it is entertaining and I guess that's what matter most when it comes to these movies.

That would have been much better.

I think it's a little more then just fan service, there was a good plot point of why Tony's team had to recruit Spidey and Black Panther, because Tony's side was lacking in numbers it wasn't an even number fight. If Marvel didn't go with Spidey they still had to think of a different new superhero to fill that spot to make it even, it just so happens they have a high-profile character ready to use. I think the way Spidey is introduced to Marvel is perfect, he wasn't recruited as an Avenger, it was more like a good old 'Spiderman and friends' tag along. After the fight Tony had Aunt May drive him back home, it's better like that then to have Spidey permanently join the Avengers this soon.

Drive him back home from Berlin?
haha

I can buy into the whole Spidey served no purpose angle but the action set pieces in this movie were so well executed that they're being praised industry wide for raising the bar in that department.

The Crossbone battle alone was better than most movies, Marvel's included, and that was just one of the fights in a movie that had a dozen other fights with escalating quality.

I know the airport scene is being praised but I just don’t get it :lol

I can’t think of a single scene within that sequence that was memorable, and half of the fight just felt like fan service. There was just no tension in the airport scene, it felt like they were all sparring instead of really fighting. Also does this Spidey have his Spidey sense? He didn’t seem to have it.

I thought the Crossbones fight was alright, but my favorite was the Black Panther, Bucky and Cap chase scene. I enjoyed the ending fight because for the first time there was actually tension, but not enough in my opinion.

Can't agree with the industry jerking off to all the set pieces. There was one great set piece which was the hangar fight with Giant Man. The chase with BP, Bucky and Cap was also good but its been done before. The stuff in Nigeria was nothing to write home about.

Honestly the movie peaks at that hangar. Spider-Man has alot to do with that.

But what does it say when the best things about a movie called Captain America: Civil War are Spider-Man, Black Panther and Giant Man?

This movie was TWS style action on steroids x 1,000!

The shaky cam in TWS is a thing of beauty, it was shaky cam done 100% right.

At first I was worried that this movie took the shaky cam a step too far and crossed the line into Blairwitch territory but thankfully they maintained control of it and reeled it in enough as to not go overboard with it.

The Falcon stuff in this movie was jaw dropping spectacular with how it was presented.

The kinetics on display in this movie is worthy of an oscar for best action.

I enjoyed the action in BvS but that was childs play when compared to this.
