Ideally, a movie will grab you with it's first teaser or trailer. That definitely did not happen with me with the first trailer for this. In fact, I thought it looked pretty stupid.
But everything since that I've seen for this movie has done great damage control, where I've gone from:
"It looks awful, I'll wait until it's on Blu-ray."
to
"It doesn't look good, but I'll probably see it in theaters."
to
"This could actually be pretty good."
and now to
"I'm definitely pumped for this."
It still could be awful, no one knows yet. But from where I was when I saw the first trailer to now is a HUGE leap.

This movie will be good because the character is the most 'rootable' in the marvel universe. It will be better than THOR because thor starts off arrogant and entitled. It will be better than Iron Man because Tony can be a prick and is unrelatably rich. Steve Rogers is a wimp with a big heart and big dreams. That makes a very endearing character. Good character means emotional investment. Emotional investment means suspension of disbelief.

Well said.
If the movie enjoys any kind of box office or critical success it'll be because the makers stayed true to the source material about Steve Rogers and didnt completely
water down or avoid the patriotic aspects of the character. Much as the first Superman movie is considered the best so can this one be as well.

You and me both. Especially after reading some of his interviews about his take on the character then reviewing his resume. It screams mediocrity at best.

Can this movie be the best of the summer? Can this movie be the best Marvel movie? Sure, it can and I give it a pretty decent shot at it. For me Iron Man and Thor set the bar quite high with how those movies worked from start to finish. I truly am looking forward to seeing how this movie turns out.

I'm finding it best to stay out of these movie threads until I've seen the movie due to all the trolls bashing it for whatever lame reasons they can come up with.
