I apologize if this has been discussed already...

So if Cap's shield is with him when he's frozen, then what were we teased with in the Iron man movies?

Stark's attempts to replicate the shield?

I was thinking the same thing. I thought it might be one of the prototypes since there were several different ones.

Prototypes. Howard Stark made a ton of them for Cap, the one in Iron Man even though it was a nod and really nothing more was unfinished and the one in Iron Man 2 was fanned out.

I have a feeling we'll see something like Tony trying to give Cap a new shield (as he did in the comics) but Cap passing for his Vibranium one.

Well said! :exactly: :rock

Seeing my childhood hero brought to life in a fantastic movie debut will stick with me forever.

Yep, and no matter what happens from here on out (whether Schumacher takes over the franchise/Channing Tatum takes over the role/they do the lame "Winter Soldier" storyline, etc.) we'll always have an awesome Cap origin and adventure story with a pitch perfect cast and great homages to the classic comics. :rock

Captain America Box Office: The Avenger Dethrones the Boy Wizard

The Superhero took over from the wizard at the box office as newcomer Captain America: The First Avenger came out on top of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II.
Sunday studio estimates showed that Paramount's Captain America didn't disappoint the tradition of superhero movies with its $65.8 million debut in first place. Paramount's Thor kicked off the summer movies back in May with a debut of $65.7 million.
Box Office Mojo reports that Captain America: The First Avenger made an estimated $25.8 million on approximately 7,100 screens at 3,715 locations. With numbers like these, the latest superhero edged out Thor's $25.5 million to top the summer's superhero launches.
Captain America's estimated attendance on the first day was comparable to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, but was less than Fantastic Four and X-Men among past July Marvel Comics kick-offs, according to Box office Mojo. Distributor Paramount Pictures' exit polling showed that 64 percent of the Captain's crowd was male, which was about the same as Thor, and 57 percent was 25 years of age and older.
The eighth and final part of the boy-wizard franchise dropped 84 percent from last Friday's record to come in second with an estimated $14.6 million, according to Box Office Mojo. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II made a little more than $48 million in its second weekend, landing a domestic total of $274.1 million.
In the meantime, Friends with Benefits got an estimated $6.8 million start on around 3,500 screens at 2,926 locations, which was less than the $7.3 million made by another "friends-with-benefits" sex comedy No Strings Attached back in January, Box Office Mojo reported.

:nana: to whoever said that Harry Potter would own Cap and the summer! :lol

I can't wait for a sequel, Captain America is right up there with First Class and the Nolan Batman movies... I hope they continue in the WWII era or do a combined WWII and modern day and die up loose strings.. the vintage is the best

If they did a sequel post avengers, Johnston would need to return to direct. But he should try somthing new, he always brings a great style to the production, especially with a period film. But it be cool if it was a post future that had the style and design that First Avenger had.

I watched (2nd time this weekend) and I like it even better. This movie is fantastic and I think had opportunity to overtake IM as the best Marvel film (IMO)if it weren't for a few minor meh moments.

We just came from Cap movie and it was GRrrrrrEAT, couldn't be more pleased after the less then great Green Lantern, I was a bit scared but CATFA was fantastic!!!! Great job!
