It's weird how all these audience members giving reviews on RT that apparently hate the movie and can't stand Brie Larson rushed out to see it opening night.

It's almost like they're not being genuine.

There are so many people to hate on. Brie Larson shouldn't be that person. Also, momma always told me hate is a strong word. Let's use the word, dislike or disapprove. *knits a scarf and sips on his tea* :p

Or else!

I think one needs to simply check preconceptions at the door and judge it as a popcorn movie and nothing more. It seems many are going in looking for any/all reasons to pick it apart due to their dislike for Larson. She's probably somewhat deserving of their ire but not the film itself. It's not the best MCU film ever made but it's certainly nowhere close to being the worst either. And based on the actual plot, I daresay that Larson does a pretty good job with the character.

I didn't think it pushed the whole feminist thing... what's wrong with saying a woman should be able to fly a jet if she can? I mean, really that was the big stink is about? Weally? Weall?! Yes, really with a "W!" Yes, you can now throw out the "STFU Eli", but I will warn you, I find it all-so soothing.

Or didn't actually go see it...

People hate what they are afraid or what challenges their core beliefs. Again, I know what she means, but her execution could be much better. So for that reason, I can see why it would ruffle some people's feathers. And yes, this is an on-going thing, where people don't like someone or something, without having proper context... Nothing new there.

Or course all the positive reviews posted are pure. No shenanigans with those.:lol

Let's wait to see what the BO take is!

It's pretty easy, for me at least, to understand why people are more connected to Brie Larson's dumb comments than the character she is portraying. And are having a hard time supporting a movie due to those comments where they may have otherwise still been somewhat enthusiastic to see it.

This is her 1st appearance in the MCU. If she was several movies in it would be easier to dismiss/ignore her ramblings. She'd be an established and perhaps loved/adored character that people liked/cared about. She is not a character yet. She is still a person with her own identity. She is not Captain Marvel, she is still just Brie Larson. An actor most people don't know or have an affinity towards. So we hang on her words much more than we would from a comment made by RDJ (who IS Iron Man), Chris Evans (who IS Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (who IS Thor), ScarJo (who IS Black Widow) and so on....

Like others said, sometimes we can forgive, sometimes we can't seem to forget.

So hang on people's words? Hope people don't do that to us... oh wait, some do, and how does that make you (general you) feel? Everyone says stupid ****. Hello! We're human and she's still a young person figuring **** out. People change, grow (or at least we hope), and evolve (some do).

This could be the big MCU misfire everybody has been predicting for years....

From the first trailer I was like “booooring...”

There are many Marvel characters I didn’t follow too closely (Antman, Dr Strange etc) but I at least read some of their comics.

I never followed the male or female CM. Uninteresting character. Marvel Superman. (yawn)

And that’s before agendas hit.

Agreed- the big level of interest isn't there but her comments have created negative interest- we will see...

I think everyone's entitled to their opinion with respect to BL's comments, it's the constant harping about it that I find over the top. Especially here, in a forum where we're all ostensibly fans of the genre and collectors of related figures. We're in the golden age of figure collecting right now, and much of it is tied to the success of the MCU, DC/WB, etc.. We've seen that DC's perceived missteps have resulted in HT being quite conservative in their related releases for WW, JL and now Aquaman; boycotting or badmouthing MCU films without just cause could lead to a similar result. I think we should be a bit concerned about hastening the end of this era - killing the proverbial golden goose, as it were...

It's easy to place the blame on her comments but I believe that had she not said anything controversial, she would still be regarded as lacking in charisma. She just isn't a very likable person and/or she struggles conveying a tough, strong superhero. People who are being supportive of the film are trying to get behind her but many still argue that she was the wrong choice for Captain Marvel. She's like Bella from Twilight - people didn't take to kindly to her wooden acting.

I think it’s perfectly all fine for people who feel slighted by her remarks, to exercise their choice not to support this film. It’s not up to them to figure out what she meant. They owe her nothing and really don’t have to justify their actions to the chattering mob. It’s called freedom of choice.

It’s projected for a 135 opening weekend :lol
Disney was projecting 155M yesterday. So bucket up! :lol

Exactly if she wants to insult people its not up to us to study her life and understand how she want mean to say those comments. Even if she didnt mean what she meant she is obviosuly still a horrible person so she can get f'd in my books.
