Captain Marvel - March 8, 2019

Film for film, I personally enjoy and like most of the DCEU films better. Sans Suicide Squad, and JL was “just fine”. Plus, none of their films seem to be clouded by political controversy. People tried to make Wonder Woman as such, but their hopes were subverted in favor of simply making a solid film with a solid female titular character.

As a planned out universe though, MCU kicks their ass while DCEU has their head up their ass.

I wonder Jye how a repeat viewing will fair.. Thinking about the film today and I really wonder how much I would like it if Sam Jackson was not in the film. I would still like Brie Larson in the role but would the film be more like a Dr. Strange marvel movie to me.. In which I like the main character but still cant bring myself to watch it a second time..

Just thinking of it I would give it a middle of the road grade instead of a slightly better 3 out of 10.

Yeah, it’s a bit lengthy. That’s one of the drawbacks. However, most of it I feel is necessary. But I do agree they probably could have shaved off maybe 10-15 mins with the UE and made it around 2:45 as opposed to 3 hours.

Yep. That no man’s land segment was extremely inspiring.

Give Dr.Strange a break.
They did a yeomans job of trying to bring such an acid trip universe in Stephen Strange’s origin to life in one movie.
I really don’t see how they could’ve done better. They pretty much covered it all in a coherent manner while setting him up for future appearances like Infinty War.
The Russo’s couldn’t have used him as effectively as the did with out all that previous ground work being layed.
I never liked Strange in the comics because he was like jello and couldn’t pin down his powers with any certainty.
But Feige and co made Strange fit into the MCU in a believable and relatable fashion.

I never liked Strange in the comics because he was like jello and couldn’t pin down his powers with any certainty.

This scene does it for me. You could tell this was when the tide shifted, where everyone was pulling together and summoning their inner strength and will in their own ways in order to prevail.

Yeah, I thought that was a nice tribute. I like to think of it as being Cavill’s Superman summoning the help of the spirit of Reeve’s Superman to help him prevail. Both of them combining their strength and fortitude.

The MOS argument is actually pretty solid. It did a lot right that CM missed the mark on.

Just one thought about the political/feminism/sjw stuff: I haven't actually heard one thing about what Brie actually said or did. All I see are reporters writing click-baity headlines and people like the ones on this forum constantly bringing it up. This is a non-story and it would die if it wasn't for people like you.

I would say the only passable DCU films are MOS and Wonder Woman.....

Everything else is trash....

I hate to spoil the vibe but snyder confirmed in 2016 that it was just a coincidence that it looks like reeve. A cool one nonetheless tho
