It's fun to hate stuff, as long as you don't let it take over your entire life like the Orange Man Bad stuff.

The thing I appreciated most about Wonder Woman is that she didn't have to put other people down to make herself look cool. It would have been so easy for the movie to paint her squad as a bunch of incompetent sexist idiots and her as the only smart person "because girl power", but instead she stood right alongside her partners, recognized and respected the contributions they made to the mission while they in turn recognized and respected her. All of them, including her, were flawed human beings (for lack of a better word) but they allowed the best of each other to shine through when it came to standing up for the greater good. To me, this is genuine gender equality.

Compare this to Captain Marvel, who had no discernable personality flaws (or personality at all for that matter), blamed her inability to live up to her potential on every other person around her holding her back, projected palpable levels of off putting arrogance, and sternly condescended every single male character around her. Even the eternal bad@$$ Nick Fury was at times reduced to a comedic sidekick who practically worships the ground she walks on.

I usually stay out of the movie section. Just wanted to say though that your post is spot on. Thanks for taking the time to post it.

I'll take you're word on that. IMO life's too short to waste time hating things. Poking fun at stuff is fine, but if hating something is what people need to do to find enjoyment, they may want to reassess their value system. :lol

For someone who seems less than fond of her character, you seem to enjoy keeping tabs on her. :lol

I'm a comic fan first and I'll always read a comic before criticizing it. It's true that I think CM is a boring character. However they can at least draw her as a women.

Now that is refreshing to hear. These days a lot of people are too willing to skip the reading or viewing material part before wading in with their opinions. Respect! :duff

Yes, that Fearless "art work" does look pretty rough. I can't say I'm familiar with that series, but then it's not easy keeping track of all of the different permutations that Marvel has been churning out for its various characters. I have read a few of the more recent CM runs (one featured Rogue), and I found those to be pretty entertaining. You know, it just occurred to me that we probably should be discussing this in The Printed Word category rather than Movies and TV, but as long as we don't wander too far off on a tangent we should be okay.

Fair enough. But I only posted here because this has seen to have become the CM picture portfolio Thread. :wink1: BTW Carol Danvers was a more interesting character when she was Ms. Marvel, you should check it out. She also couldn't be mistaken for a man. :duff

I prefer to refer to her in that costume as Warbird, it sounds cooler.
Btw, the reason Carl Manvers is looking like a man is because the people in charge at Marvel have decreed that women can no longer be drawn as busty or sexy, they also hire poorly skilled artists on the cheap that can't draw a small bust woman properly.

Though I don't mind Ms. Marvel, agree, Warbird does sound more enticing.
