Brie Larson was fine in this movie since she behaved exactly the way the script presented her. What kept it mired in mediocrity was the lackluster direction.

Im with you. She was fine, I feel like they were going for the arrogant, chip on the shoulder type of personality. I just watched it again the other day. I enjoyed it more than when I saw it in the theater, had some genuine fun moments, and them making the Skrulls innocent victims didn't bother me as much this time around. But I still really HATED the thing with Goose and Fury's eye. That was probably the lamest thing I've ever seen in the MCU...

Her past filmography and behavior in interviews before CM prove this whole "I am woman, hear me roar!" thing she's been doing lately was just a publicity stunt by Disney.

She was in Scott pilgrim to. Where she tells a dude to punch an Asian girl for talking to much. Lol

Based off a few interviews ive read, I honestly believe that she is a method actor that deliberately developed a sense of self-confidence for the Captain Marvel role, and the empowerment and narcissism felt good and went to her head a bit.

I'd rather watch this gif of Gal dancing with that big charming smile on her face every time rather than Brie Larson trying to be all "sexy" and "seductive" despite the fact that Brie's nearly naked.

Gal has just natural beauty, grace, feminine charm...you can't look at her dancing as Wonder Woman and not have it melt your heart.

Brie on the other hand is not far from her character; a space alien that doesn't understand humans and is attempting to fake it enough to be accepted as one of us.
