Thanks guys!

Thank`s Chris for the how to make booties :D The feet still posable with all the work, I figure it will be but best to check eh.

Thanks! I can move them left and right a bit. Movement is limited. I am going for film accuracy over articulation though. :)

great how to chaka................:clap

i think the base for the real props were some kind of military muck boots that they added shin straps to. i have a pair of od green ones with black soles that if painted white would look exactly like the ref pic you used........minus the shin straps.

Thanks Barryo, I appreciate it! I would like to see those boots when you get a chance.

I did some more work today. I modded the Hasbro belt. Mine is on the top, the Hasbro one on the bottom...

I reworked the guantlets a bit...

Here is where I am so far. The chestpiece and shoulder armor are not attached yet, I just kinda "placed" them for the picture...

Next up is attaching the ammo pouches, backpack and thermal detonator to the belt.

I still need to figure out what material to use for the breathmask...

Really a great version, Chaka! Love those boots, there on top of all custom footwear I saw on this forum!
What did you do to the jumpsuit, is it the regular one spraypainted like I did? Really looks like you used RAL9010 just like me . .

One suggestion: Use a second strap on the gauntlet to not let it stand apart from the elbow region.

I myself am still unsure about the cowl; the regular Hasbro one painted did look great but I always was a fan of the hard plastic look of the commander.
I thought about a white plastic soup spoon, know what I mean? Those you get on funfairs ...

Thanks guys.

@Gent: I intend to attach tne guantlets in the elbow region, just havent gotten there yet. Its not the Hasbro suit, its just a shirt and a pair of pants from Ignite Toys "The Vikimg. I picked them up from TA. I did spray it, but went over it with watered down acrylics to keep it from becoming too stiff.

I got cracking on the breathmask today. Okay here is what I did....

I took one of those plastic gifts bags that you can get from Target or Wal-Mart, cut it up, placed it under the helmet and drew a pattern of how I wanted the mask to sit on the figure...

Chaka1777.jpg

After I had the pattern made, I cut the form of the mask out and covered it with latex from a rubber glove.

Chaka1776.jpg

I trimmed it up a bit more and sprayed it with flat white paint. When I did this the latex wrinkled up a bit giving it the look I was going for.

Here is where he is at right now, I need to paint all the details on him still....

Chaka1778.jpg

I got the upper guantlets fastned, the chestpiece put in place and the thermal detonator attached to the back of the belt. Next up is the backpack and ammo pouches on the belt. :)

Really great work, saw the first pic and thought about writing: 'Wow, I wanna see some colouring of the armour' - scrolled down and you already did!
You actually did like me only paint a few dots although the references show various colouring ... and it seems Hasbro has mixed it up again ... :gah:
From my research I found out the regular troops have this plate:

But the Snowtrooper Commander has this plate:
commander3.jpg

Here's one without the ranking plate, fresh from planet kamino ...
ChestArmor.jpg

So HASBRO took the commander plate, left out the small red/blue ranking plate and put it on a regular trooper. ARGH!

Thank god snow did some casts with ranking plate on ...

Request:
Anyone has a binocular and is willing to part with his / hers? Or did someone cast some?

offtopic: Laughed when I saw that plastic wrap with the kakhi quilted vest. Looks like a big arsenal for small people.
