Just devils advocate... are you using the generic title in the emails as he suggested. Just typing "hello" or something very simple so it makes it through the filters?

I used titles like "House Head" and "Refund, Please". I think my 1st one was "Hi Chris". I just can't see any way in the world my simple emails could be caught by a spam filter. There's nothing spammy in my domain or my letter content. No advertising buzzwords, nothing. I have outrageously strong custom-made spam filters in place, and they never delete/screen out emails from real people, only ad crap and spam.

That's good, at least he's replying to somebody. Apparently those of us that want refunds are just out the money, probably because he has no intention of refunding anything. It's kind of a shame, because if/once this all panned out, I would not have been adverse to buying from him again, this particular sculpt just didn't do it for me.

Well I asked him for a refund because I didnt think he had time or anything to finish up my head but he got it packaged up right away and sent it out no problem. Im kinda thinking like what your thinking, he isnt really gonna give out refunds

It's a shame, IMO, that the Att. Chris Howes thread was locked. I have not paid a dime to Howes (and never will, now) but I feel that anyone who participates in commerce on this board (which is, potentially, everyone) should be made aware of this situation. Regardless of whether or not he comes through in the end this whole affair is a lesson learned that should not be limited to the often overlooked customs section.
Nothing that anyone has said is more offensive to me than Howes' dismissive attitude towards PAYING customers.
There's nothing wrong with a witch hunt when you've got a witch problem.
I doubt a pleasant conclusion is possible considering how much product is owed, and the refund policy has been voided, but I would sincerely love to be proven wrong.

Why can't you guys leave this between the people who are actually dealing with Chris. I've got quite a bit of money invested. I e-mailed Chris according to his request ("hello" in the subject line) and he e-mailed me within a half an hour. Simple.

The reason the previous thread was locked was because people couldn't keep it civil. Collector49 started the thread to get Chris' attention and in a couple of days, the trolls came out of the woodwork. People who hadn't even "spent a dime with Chris" came on and started ranting about things they weren't even involved with.

I really can't believe how insane it's gotten on here. And the "I'm just looking out for the community" excuse is bull^^^^.

Why Chris has been singled out for such a vitriolic tirade, is beyond me. Sure, he's behind on the work. And yes, it would be great if it were all cleared up soon. However, there are other customizers on this board, who I have lots of money tied up with, who have been promising people items for over a year without delivery. I don't see any multi-page rants dedicated to them.

Even worse, people started adding up how much money Chris had supposedly made, based on items he never even took money for. One day it was $7000, the next it was $11,000.

Listen, I want my items too, but I think this has gotten WAY outta hand. Please, if you didn't spend any money with Chris, stop adding to the problem and troll somewhere else.

Actually, the last thread was locked because Badmoon and Bannister started posting pics of random stuff purposely trying to derail the thread.

Despite that l have not given money to Howes, I agree that it is best for those who have given him money to speak their minds.

This reminds me of Shocker Toys, where they have kept money on some preorders yet they were tryin to start to try to salvage their reputation with the Indie Spotlight line of toys.

However, because Shocker Toys was so easy to troll and flame, some posters, who didn't preorder or give cash to the company, make it their job to follow them around online and to attack or bash others who wanted to let thecompany try to sort things out; A bit funny how the trolls only posted at the threads that were about Shocker Toys..

Once the Indie spotlight toys came out and ppl were happy with them, the trolls stopped unless a new thread appears, where they would talk crap about the toys.

I am mentioning this is that there are some ppl who loves threads about a person who did wrong as a way to justify their troll behavior. As with the Shocker Toys incident, none of the trolls were willing to try to find ways in helping other customers to get their money, but rather they would just waste their time followin shocker toys from websites to websites to talk crap about them. When ppl question their behavior, they get defensive and uses wordplay to try to make others thinks that the ppl who questioned them are overracting.

I am happy ro hear that the house sculpts are bein' sent to ppl who have ordered them. If true, it does suck, however, that those who want their money because they do not like the sculpt, probably won't.

To reply to your post easier I sectioned it off.
A - Everyone on this board is/was a potential customer therefore they have as much right as any other to post their feelings on the matter and how it was playing out. I, as I've said before, opted to wait and see how the sculpts turned out because Howes work had yet to impress me. However, had his Gormans sculpt resembled the character he would have made almost TWICE as much from me. the same is true of other sculpts he was commissioned for.

B - The thread was not locked due to "trolls coming out of the woodwork" but for the reason Collector49 stated.

C - He was "singled out"as you put it because he stopped updating his progress on his sculpts. A number of us found it rather coincidental that, as soon as other Star Trek options were brought into play, he was suddenly there with a WIP set of pix. Are there others that are behind? Yes, but if you actually follow or read any of their threads you will see constant updates. Are real world problems slowing some of them down? Yes, but even Howes would have been better off posting whatever his reasons were for the long absences, no updates and and no shipments than waiting until it went too far and coming up with the "Russian Spammer" concept.

D - Again, refer back to answer "A" members on this board are not trolls and are entitled to the same rights as you. When Howes hires you to defend him, then put on your Matlock suit and have at it, otherwise remember that this is a free world and a public forum. If you're not adult enough to be able to read other people's opinions without getting yourself upset then maybe the webkinz site would be more to your liking.

I have to be quick as I'm INCREDIBLY busy right now. I have an incredibly lucrative practice representing slandered toy customizers that has EXPLODED since your post drew attention to it. That combined with my recent appointment as customs mod for the Webkinz forum has really taken a chunk out of my web surfing time.

Eventhough I don't have much time, I wanted to thank you, Ironman1188, for defending the freedoms of other forum members. I'm sure they appreciate you looking out for their rights. Also, thanks for your incredibly adult insight that I'm a child who should go elsewhere to have an opinion. It was incredibly mature of you to read my opinion and not get upset enough to make such a positive suggestion. I'll try and be as adult as you if I have time to post here again.

Also, your incredible wit has been an inspiration. That Matlock quip will have me in stitches every time I watch an episode of, um, Matlock. And eventhough you may have been joking about the whole Webkinz thing, it really inspired me to pursue the aforementioned mod position. So, thank you once again.

It's just going to get the thread closed, and those of us with money tied up with him (some against our will) would appreciate being able to continue keeping abreast of what's going on.
