Re: Christopher Reeve Superman the Movie Premium Format Figure -part 2

Hmm.. Is there a similar case wherein the preorder pics sucked but turned out great in-hand?

Happens all the time

Like who?

Green Lantern PF... The initial pics were the WORST I have ever seen, and it was then I learned not to judge a piece by just the release photos. Humbling lesson really.

Kinda funny the way on SF when the actual sculptor shows face in the thread then everyone changes their opinion. It's like the second he walks into the room everyone gets their knees dirty...

Bunch of fanboys over there.

Hopefully someone does. If they are that easy to bully it sounds like he won't improve it just due to ego which would be a shame.

They are all like : it looks great! Looking forward to your next piece! Etc etc. an immense amount of azzz kissing going on.

Pusssssies.

You know, from what I've heard, it is post like these that caused THIS forum to lose all of the creators and the producers from THIS board, and I warned them of just that. They have been WAY harder on this over there, but they are ATLEAST acknowledging the fact that the sculpt looks awesome.

P.S. in my experience if someone feels they have to result to calling someone a ***** on the Internet the generally are the ones who suffer from "little man" syndrome.

It's just funny because it's the same guys who at first were saying that the statue was crap. Now that the sculptor himself posted some pictures, they are all suddenly kissing ***.

I'm getting this statue, btw. Are you?

Was it just bad pics or did the change it? I have a hard time believing it was poor pics taken by a pro that would make it look that much different. I hope that is the case here, but I can't see how.
but they are ATLEAST acknowledging the fact that the sculpt looks awesome.
If that were true nobody would be pushing for tweaks(at least about the head). It does not look bad, but there is room for improvement. Unpainted it looks ok, but something just looks off when finished, don't know what happened.

I like the statue. I was going to wait to see it in person at this year SDCC, but I know ill end up ordering it anyway. I love Reeve, and this thing will look great.

I just don't feel the need to write essay like posts all the time justifying why or why not.

This does not help my opinion, I'm afraid. Waaaay too much squint. Compare the eyes to that of the photograph of Reeve.

What we have here, in my opinion, is a sculptor trying to add a layer of New Millennium Bad-assery to a classic friendly Superhero. Save the squint for Cavill.

Fair enough. I also love Reeve and it will take long to have a version2 of this one. Unless you have the $$ for a custom. I feel ill end up ordering this one.

I agree, big swing and a miss on the eyes...but I think thats in relation to the sculptor using a life mask to get his likeness.

Also, Hair line is a bit too high up on the sculpt.

Its not terrible, as far as the face goes, you can tell who it is supposed to be, but there are a few little things that throw it off.

But if it were just the face sculpt that is the issue, I would be getting it. Though, the sculptor implied that was a decision SS made that he brought to fruition.

Anybody else notice the buldge is as big as his left fist? Now that is a SuperMAN! I have spent too much time looking at this, I admit...

I see that GL get used a lot as the example of looking bad in the promo but great in hand.

I just don't see the drastic change for the better from this

They look the same to me. Great, that is.

In fact, I feel bad I missed on this. Looks stunning!

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman the Movie Premium Format Figure -part 2

Yeah, they're not going to tweak the Reeve Superman PF pose enough at this point to fix it. It's just too wacky. GL was a much easier, almost subtle improvement.

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman the Movie Premium Format Figure -part 2

I don't see any change in the Green Lantern in hand pics. I'm not saying he looks bad at all, I'm just saying I don't see a difference.

To me the biggest change was the Batman PF. The website's pics didn't do it for me, the first in hand pics didn't do it for me, but once I saw the first youtube video of an in hand piece I had to have it immediately. I think everyone will have a piece that either in hand pics or vids will change their mind about, while not budging the feelings of others towards the very same piece.

Remember when SSC use to do the videos of their pieces? The guy would talk about the piece as it sat next to him... That Video sold me on the Hulk Comiquette way more then the photos did and I pre ordered because of it. SSC should go back to those kind of videos.

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman the Movie Premium Format Figure -part 2

Someone at the other site did a quick photoshop which improves the overall look of the piece by making the body/hands/legs bigger.

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman the Movie Premium Format Figure -part 2

The issues with GL were really more with scale and the shiny paint. Neither of which bothered me in the least. I wish scale was the only issue going on with CR Superman. To me its everything the pose, base and exclusive. Also the head sculpt which indeed does looks like Reeve in pics looks more like the gaunt looking version of CR in Superman IV the Quest for Peace than than the youthful version of Reeve from Superman the Movie.

JAWS those are the NEW pictures. SSC even changed the product photos links after 5-6 months of GL sitting aound and NOT slowing. After they changed the photos the Ex sold out in like a week, and the Reg a few weeks later. The ild photos show a similar statue, but it looked WAY worse.

Yeah I do remember seeing those. They still have them up on their Youtube channel. I liked how they'd give almost an in depth review of the piece and the character, and show you lots of different angles and close ups of the piece. And you'd get to see the real piece next to someone. I think there is no better way to really take in the scale of these things unless you see them next to real people. SS should go back to doing these, especially with really popular characters.

Wow! Proportions look great on the Photoshop one! He even fixed the granny panties!!!

You see Spidey... It's not like you complained about a piece where the inhand photos came out and BAM instant improvement... SSC actually made changes and put up new photos of the piece before they ever started to ship it. You prove the point of all of us who complain and don't settle for and order the piece. Not saying SSC would not change it anyways but if we all just stayed quiet ordered it anyways and "hoped" for change then I am guessing that not much would happen... Why would it? SSC would be happy with the sales and would figure the silence meant everyone was happy.

Thanks for taking the bait and walking into my trap (I knew the pictures were of the updated fig) and proving my above point :) Mah ha ha ha ha...

It's like playing chess on this board. ;)
