Re: Christopher Reeve Superman the Movie Premium Format Figure -part 2

JAWS the showed the light up features in the second set, but according to SSC it was always there. So NO complaining did nothing there. I will say though that that photoshop pic DOES make to a convincing argument for a bit of bulkin up

Wait a min... So did they change anything with the GL PF or just better photos?? I thought they made some changed to the statue itself... At least that is what I thought you meant by some of your other posts in the other forum.. Damn you Spidey... Make more sense please ;)

Either way... Perhpas SSC will change the photos here. The present photos do not do this piece or sculpt any favors..

And yes.. Bulking up Superman would help a lot IMO. Just look at his right forearm... Much better.

I am starting to think it's the poorly sized sculpt then the pose now.. I don't think I would have said anything about the pose if the final piece looked like the Photoshop pics. It looks soooooo much more natural.

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman the Movie Premium Format Figure -part 2

Hey Spidey... Didn't I just see a photo out there recently comparing the old GL photos to the new?? I can't find it.

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman the Movie Premium Format Figure -part 2

Someone at the other site did a quick photoshop which improves the overall look of the piece by making the body/hands/legs bigger.

Head now fits the body :)

Still looks bad, unless someone can Photopshop a new paint app and base this will remain a disasterpiece at a laughable price.

Some of those photos I used said Proto on it so I don't think they were all "new pics" are they??

Either way, You are saying some lights made you change you view on this piece... Cause I still don't see a drastic change in old and new photos (below you can see the ring is not finished).

I thought with the way people talked there was more of a change then just new photos and light up features. I will go back and say what I always have. GL always looked good to me. So there were no surprises there.

What is strange is going back to the begining of the thread which had SDCC photos to start.. People did not like those either. Seems like the Light up feature changed a lot of people's minds. I think some of them were even members who claim to not like light up features.... You freaks have me more confused then ever :) :) :) :)

I still can't think of a piece that looked awful in proto and made a 180 in the final in hand photos.

In the original pics, GL leaned quite noticeably to his right. If anyone can find the original vs the newer pics, you will see a noticeable difference. I think they also tweaked the face a bit.

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman the Movie Premium Format Figure -part 2

They added the symbol to the ring and light up to the reg and ex hand. The complaints from day one (scale, pose, anatomy, shiny paint) remained the same.

That is what I thought. But reading some of Spidey's post I thought there was more of a change. Some photos out there that I never got yo see. So like I have been saying... The Pre order photos while not as good as in hand photos are not that drastically different. Sometimes the final is not as good and sometimes it's better.

I think GL is a bad example of Bad PO photos great final product. As I think it always looked great and never looked all that different.

Yeah that was my impression too. Mine is sold now :( but I used the money to get the old Robocop PF :)

I the end the pics with light up and the symbol on the right hand were the only differences. The original PHOTOS were the main issue and to this day I figure they would have gotten way more POs of it if they had gotten the better photos up right away.

Thanks Spidey... It is pretty funny how different the photos look.... I will say that I think the original photos of GL look fine to me and that the end product looks basically the same. That being said SSC should get new photos of CR Superman ASAP :)

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman the Movie Premium Format Figure -part 2

I would agree that they need new photos soon, and maybe a new paint job. I would love to see a fabric free photo of the base as it may give us a better idea as to whether the sculpt is there or not?.. This could be a "finish" issue where the paint and the fabric are totally detracting from the sculpt. Also, I do like this PhotoShopped work.

Here's the original full set of GL pics.

Dark backdrop and moody lighting, but what we saw is what we got, minus the leaning, but then we already had the SDCC pics, too, so we knew he probably wouldn't be leaning.

I saved the hi-res old pics back in September 2012. The newer pics, I saved in April 2013.

Like I said a couple of days ago, only the base light-up was there when this went up for pre-order. We can't know for sure whether the hand light-up was planned from the outset or not, but seeing as not even the Ex was selling out after so many months, it's only logical to think they added it as an incentive.

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman the Movie Premium Format Figure -part 2

I wanted to see exactly how much size had been added to the CR PF in the Photoshopped picture. Green outline shows the mass added. Besides the hands, it's not a crazy amount actually.

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman the Movie Premium Format Figure -part 2

Interesting how even the Sidehsow photographer hides the nasty black chess base in most of the photos. It's as if even the photographer said, "Yea, I don't care if it's part of the base, I'm not putting it in this shot!"

So Spidey as well as many others got mesmerized by the pretty lights... ;)

Rightfully so mind you.. The light up hand is KILLER!!!

The only issue now though is that, for the people that are looking for realism, the hands are too big. If you actually look at a person's hands they shouldn't be 3/4 the size of their head while balled up into a fist. :lol

Seriously though, a little mass does go a long way, believe me, even in drawing moving a line or a shadow a few millimeters does wonders.
