That stitch job on the Cape is bad. Face looks great! I might have to put a order in just to see it in person. Like you were saying though. If you have to stand back a few feet to make this look good I believe my opinion is that its not done to your liking.

Took a couple quick pics. From a bit of a distance the statue looks good.

Like most of the ones I've seen, my "S" has more red on one side than the other and the edge of the cape is frayed. Also, the stability of the statue is questionable. Mine rocks a bit and feels like it would tip over if someone bumped into the dresser I've got him on right now.

One question for those that have him: Does any one else have an issue with the leg that connects to the dam? Mine wiggles at the knee and I don't know if it's broken or supposed to do that.

I'm honestly not sure what to think yet. I'm going to give it a couple days before making a decision about him. I do like how he looks from a few feet away but I'm sure my only options are keep it or send it back. I don't think SS is going to have any statues in better condition that the one I got since the issues I have seem to be the norm.

He looks like he's leaning to the left, his right...is that supposed to be like that?

Thanks for the pics matt and Zod, much appreciated. Seems like these are coming out fairly consistent as far as issues are concerned, with 'S', cape and stability being the norm on this piece. Seems like the cape is going to need lots and lots of TLC to get just right, with matt's looking the best so far.

For those that have him, does the foot peg only go into the dam one way or can he be positioned differently? The body angle between matt and zod's pics look somewhat different to me or is it just the camera angle playing tricks? In matt's the body is positioned at roughly 12 o'clock, while zod's is at about 10-11 o'clock. Ah, it's probably just me old eyes going on me...

Ok, I have just got to ask, what is with the white marks at the bottom of the cape? Is it not dyed properly or is there a residue of some sort on it that can be brushed off? Because that would bug the heck out of me.

I think its a white threaded hem...that hemwork at the bottom of the cape is THE WORST I have seen on any SSC tailored piece to date. It looks ridiculously low quality with all the loose threading. It's not even a matter of a opinion...that is just plain BAD. Yes you can take some scissors to it but that's going to keep coming apart IMO. I hope someone's doing some nice custom capes even though that should not be necessary.

+1 I agree mate, Zod have you got him sitting in there right?

Yeah he only goes in one way. His leg appears to be broken so he's leaning. ****ing SS has sent me yet another damaged piece. I'm having horrible luck with them lately and it's getting old.

Here are two pictures from the same angle--the first is of me holding the statue how it should be and the second is how it actually is.

Thanks for the clarification zod. Sorry to hear about your troubles, really is Russian Roulette when it comes to SS pieces now or maybe your namesake got to him before you did... return or will you try for a replacement?

i've also noticed the same leaning issue on my Supes :( Its quite evident that the statue only fits in one way so there's no point trying to force the peg in at another angle cos it just wont work. The statue is definately not straight and is leaning to the left hand side causing the base to raise on one side too! :horror i've had to put a coin under one side to counterweight the left side and stop it from toppling over :slap

Whilst the base is painted really well and the exploding water effects look fantastic, the way the basse is put together is terrible. The darn thing is totally loose and any slight movement or touch and the base will make it unsecure :(

I have to say, for me personally, despite the above flaws including the poor stitching on the S Symbol and the terrible likeness to reeve, its actually growing on me :lol BUT, i'm pretty sure that i'm feeling that way due to the fact i'm a big Reeve fan and that i doubt they'll be another Reeve Supes statue (especially in 1/4 scale) that will be made any time soon :( So there are all factors that are probably making me like it as oposed to the quality of the statue, which lets be honest, is not very good at all, especially not $425 good anyway :(

I'm still unsure as to whether Sideshow confirmed that this piece was partly PVC or whether it would be just the head and hands that were PVC but i can confirm that the entire statue is PVC...even the black chess base is made of a tough durable plastic :slap

I have thought about it long and hard this weekend and have come to the decision to have mind returned for a refund. There is just too much still to come (as in pre orders) and so i cant afford to accept pieces purely for the fact that another one of its kind wont be made in the distant future or because its all time favourite movie Superman character...its time to be strict and let Sideshow know that i seriously cant accept something that so poorly made....at least not for the price i paid for it anyway.

I hope those who have this piece coming can appreciate it more than i have but it really has left me disappointed :(

Pics certainly make this piece look a heck of a lot better that what it does inhand...usually its the other way round...

These things are suppose to be solid... If he is wiggling at the knee yours is probably Brocken, which would explain the lean.

When I first saw this piece, I just saw these leaning issues coming from miles away... But I also immediatly assumed that they would of course be particularly aware of this potential issue and avoid it all together in the design from the very beginning. Apparently not.

Well said and I must agree...this is not the PF statue I signed on for when I started collecting almost 10 years ago... I want a solid well made item.. if they start making PVC statues.. I can just get all HT 1/4 scale figures and have the best of both worlds... There really is no excuse.. I love my Keaton Bats PF EX and that one hit it out of the park....I was really looking forward to this one.....

So you make Superman all PVC because of weight but then you make the chess piece base out of a plastic (which I assume is lighter the polystone) which sort of defeats the purpose of making Superman PVC... Like I have said.. All decisions have been strange.

Well Andy I am sorry to hear that you don't love it, but I am not sorry to hear that you are sending SSC the message by sending him back. I honestly love SSC, and probably 90% of what they do, but when they do bad they need to be called on it, and the only way that matters is with a monetary show of your displeasure.

Not necessarily Shaun. Mine isn't broken at all but still has leaning issues

Hence why I said probably mi.

When I first saw this piece, I just saw these leaning issues coming from miles away... But I also immediatly assumed that they would of course be particularly aware of this potential issue and avoid it all together in the design from the very beginning. Apparently not.

I thought for sure the chess piece base was a counter balance, and that there would a significant metal rod going through it all, but apparently not.

With this photo I can finally see what SSC was going for.. I think....

It is meant to be displayed up on a higher shelf... Probably why the base and piece are so tall.. The pose makes sense more when looking up at it. Problem is... It does not look as strong from any other angle... IMO anyways.

Or maybe it was just a great picture :)

It actually doesn't look that bad in-hand with the exception of the leaning, wonky "S", and horrible cape. I'm just so tired of dealing with Sideshow's return/replacement department. The good statues I've had lately were Green Poison Ivy, CotD Queen, and White Black Widow. The bad were Alien Big Chap LSB, Catwoman, Wonder Woman, and this CR Superman. That's over 50% of the statues I've received that have arrived with big QC issues.
