I am not sure I understand the question. :dunno I smoked and quit. I continued to drink even though I smoked. It sucked and I spent plenty of nights in my truck thinking of leaving to buy cigs. I never did. I can tell you that it is very personal and that it took something most horrible to give me this will power.

What i mean is that my girl smokes and the smell of cigs sometimes makes me want one.

Ahh, ok yeah for me after a week or two the smell wasn't appealing to me at all. What got me was watching movies with people smoking in it. It still gives me an ever so slight urge when I see someone on the big screen light up. It passes rather quickly.

/pats self on back.

It has not been easy.(but each day got a little easier!)

I BEAT IT!

never saw this thread before. I smoked for probally 17 years and quit a little over a year ago. the first week is the HARDEST. just kept telling myself no! no! no! no! it's a retraining of Association. after about a month desire was pretty much gone. now I see people smoking and wonder how the hell I did it for sooooo long. seems you just keep trying until one day you make up your mind and DO IT. to everyone who quit or is trying KEEP IT UP. it's almost a PF every month.
now to stop drinking. :D
