Flavor Country has no such places. Only Flavor road. And it's a long stretch of flavor indeed. Filled with beautiful puffs of smoke and beautiful people puffing cigarettes to create them. Next Stop: The fields of Tobacco Heaven. Ahhhhhhh...

I used to smoke like a chimney when I was 14 to about 21 (I'm 24 now) but because cigs are so expensive now days I don't buy them anymore. The only time I ever smoke is when I bum one off a friend but I don't even do that anymore. Hell I haven't touched one in nearly a year and the funny thing is, I rarely get cravings for one.

I'm just wondering- For those of you that smoked and now don't, do you notice if your stuff (especially your collection) smells like cigarettes?

I think most go outside to smoke. When I quit for two years I didn't notice a smell difference in my house. However, I could smell a smoker a mile away when they would come in.

Still smoking here. I really should quit again. This thread was once my crowning acheivement.

I still can't (3 yrs in) smell a smoker. People always say you notice it more when you quit but i don't.

I used to smoke a lot. But when I got together with my wife, I had to cut back because she hates smoking. The more I was with her, the less I smoked. And it got to the point where a pack of cigarettes was lasting me a month.

At that point she asked me "Why even bother?".

And that made sense...so I quit in January of '99 (of couse, the black lung cookies I was starting to hack up were some pretty strong motivators as well). It was easier for me than it is for most because I had slowly cut back to nearly nothing. I have smoked about 5 or 6 cigarettes since then...each just because I still like to smoke, not for any cravings.

The interesting thing to me is...

after having quit for more than 10 years, I recently developed a freaking MONSTER desire to start smoking again. It lasted for about a week or so. I am glad it has disappeared.

I love smoking, but I know that physically, I can't maintain. At the end of 2008 as my dad was recovering from having 10cm of his esophagus removed, I was fully ready to quit. Then he got diagnosed with multiple inoperable metastasis in his liver. He kept smoking. I didn't want to leave him alone, so I kept smoking. I swore I would only do it until he died. He died at the end of November and after I finished his last pack, I went three days. Unfortunately, after losing him, I was in no shape to quit.

The other night, I went into a convenience store and found a Bic with the logo from the first Motley Crue album (which is the best one) in red on white. They were my favorite band from 12-16 and I figure I had to smoke long enough to own a Too Fast for Love lighter. The only thing missing was a pentagram. When it runs out, I will have smoked my last Old Gold soft pack.

swear to God I can't get addicted. I used to smoke and just up and quit and last saturday had 2 cigs and then like 3 on monday. No a craving at all to have more. I just smoke socially. Good luck to all of you trying to quit. Stay strong and keep the faith.

i am glad l never started smoking. well when l was a kid in like grade 5 l used to smoke sometimes, but not since. glad l dont really drink either. at the end of the month there is a hefty bill paying for those 2 habits.
