3 YEARS THIS JUNE COLD TURKEY! I'm the ____ing MAN!

(WHYQUIT.COM)

Smoked for 14 years straight, then quit cold turkey 8 years ago and haven't had a single one since. It really helps if you're psychologically motivated to quit. For me, it was a simple case of the last cigarette in the pack having gone "bad", and almost causing me to throw up after I took a puff. At that exact moment, it was like a light switch in my mind flicked over to "why the hell are you doing this?"

Arbitrarily setting a date to quit rarely works - you have to WANT to quit before it'll take.

I quit for about 3 months last year but couldnt stay away, yeah I felt alot better and healthier but nothing beats a good old cig. I probably could have kept on going but I felt I was only quitting because people kept telling me too and it wasnt actually what I wanted. Anyone who actually wants to quit, you will, aslong is its what you want, not other people.

Good luck to the quitters, I recommend patches and lots of xbox :rock

Yeah I made it damn near two years. But as I said I let life get the better of me. That will NOT happen again.

Quit smoking 9 months ago cold turkey, haven't had one scince
and never will again. The extra cash now goes to more responsible
things like collectibles..:D

I wish you the best. In my opinion the best way to quit is cold turkey. When you depend on a product to help you quit, once you stop taking that product the urge comes back. JMHO though, good luck.

I would agree with you if it was nicotine replacement. I wouldn't even bother with a patch or gum. Your still putting nicotine in your body. This stuff really worked for me. I stopped taking it early and never had the urge to smoke. It started smoking again more to rebel. I know that sounds stupid. But I was like well ____ it. LOL!

Good luck Badmoon... typically takes people a few tries to get it right. I've been a "social" smoker now for about 8 years. I often go a month to 2 months w/o smoking, then go through a pack in one night :lol

But, pretty sure the last time I smoked was over Halloween.

OK since nobody seems to have taken notice of the article - which i thought was hilarious - i'll just downright post it here:

Indonesian man loses his teeth in a cigarette explosion

The cigarette makers said they had never heard of such a case before

An Indonesian man has been given compensation after a cigarette he was smoking exploded, taking out six teeth.

Andi Susanto, 31, told Indonesian media the cigarette had blown up in his mouth while he was riding a motorcycle.

He accepted a payment of 5m rupiah ($535; £335) and all his medical costs from PT Nojorono Tobacco, makers of the brand of cigarette he was smoking.

Police are investigating what caused the blast, but Mr Susanto said he would try to give up smoking now anyway.

He told the Jakarta Post newspaper he had been smoking since he was a schoolboy and had never had any problems.

"The incident was all so unexpected," he said.

We do not put any strange materials in the cigarettes, so we think that this is a weird case
Clas Mild cigarettes spokesman Iwan Sulistyo

He told Metro TV the company had talked to his family and agreed to "settle it amicably" with an out-of-court settlement.

A spokesman for Clas Mild cigarettes, the brand Mr Susanto had been smoking, said there were no plans for a recall.

"We are communicating with the police and still waiting on the forensic laboratory tests," Iwan Sulistyo told the Jakarta Globe.

"We do not put any strange materials in the cigarettes, so we think that this is a weird case. This is the first time for us."

Indonesia has one of the highest smoking rates in the world, with more than 60% of men smoking regularly.
