maybe, but people in here just don't seem to like the sculpt and think the flag is cheesy. It won't be a grail, thats for sure.

I would guess the ES at 1000 for the exclusive and they will try for 1500 with the non-exclusive.
Why higher than some of the other PFs? Because it is Iron Man, they know the character is popular right now, and they know that people are itching for something special to buy during Spooktacular.
My guess is that lackluster sales of the non-exclusive will drop its ES down to something like 1250... a big step off what they would hope, and it still won't sell out (but they will have a hard time justifying a lower ES on a non-exclusive version compared to the exclusive). I would wager that this particular PF will probably be one that has the closest ES between the Exclusive and the Non-Exclusive versions as a result.

I would agree with you if Sideshow didn't have a policy that allows anyone to cancel their order without any penalty. The trouble starts when hundreds of people get into the excitement of an "exclusive new purchase" without worrying about whether or not they will actually follow through.
Most buy the item because they want it.
Some may be doing it solely for the flipping purpose. However, there are certainly many who may just be "guessing" at their future finances.
On the one side, there will be some able to buy the item, if all works out well with their future finances.
On the other side, there will be those who cancel if all doesn't go as planned. These people still don't lose out on anything by ordering today.
It's that initial purchasing boom that Sideshow sees. They set their numbers according to that. Right now we are witnessing the trend upward in ES. Eventually, just like in any economic situation, you will also see a downward trend. That would be when Sideshow finally gets sick of extra stock sitting around due to ES's that are marked too high based upon a semi-false demand.
In the end... either way... I'll be happy as long as I still get the collectible.

Well, it's all up to Sideshow to take control of their edition sizes. It's their warehouse and it's their spooktacular/gift cards sales.
We are going through some tough times. At some point Sideshow will have to adjust to the way the market is nowadays.

I preordered this because it grew on me. Especially when I saw the statue with the helmet off; I think it took 12 hours to sell out because most people were at work and didn't know an IM would be released at 7 a.m. on a Tuesday morning. However, I have the original and it is superior to this one. The only way I will cancel is if it has a huge ES, that defeats the purpose of being highly collectible.

I hope the production pieces dont cheap out on the flag material, because that could really take away from this piece, especially considering I'm not a huge fan of the flag on this piece anyway.

Double-Aarghh !! I just saw that, and attempted to order via Flex-Pay, but couldn't since I had already placed a WL order (the system blocks the Flex-Pay order due to the WL request)!
Oh well, I'm sure the WL will still come through for me, but I'd feel better having this piece secured!
