Maybe if Rob Liefield drew them.

I'm not even sure that he ever drew one that bad.

This thread is vearing off of its original intent very fast. Maybe I should make clear that this isnt a thread for women and men to badmouth eachother. I simply just wanted a general discussion on men's experiences when it came to the two subjects. That's it. I dont know why the conversation has gone in the direction it has, and I dont know why everyone keeps stating the obvious. Try to keep it on track...
What thread on Freaks doesn't get hijacked? :dunno

I agree.
Many women have been conditioned to either think it's ok and hope for the best or they will believe they can change the man and tame him because other things about him attract her.
That I agree with.
Many women prefer the idea of trying to turn the jerk who is a great performer (because he has an aggressive personality) into the nice guy over inspiring a less aggressive guy who is nice into a great performer.
I'm not quite so sure it's always a conscience decision.

I asked her what's so funny, and her response was "You collect dolls? That's kind of immature." and continued to laugh out loud.

Without being there and seeing her reaction, let me just take the counterpoint for a moment. Is it possible it was a friendly tease? If you had gone to her place instead maybe you would have given her a friendly joke about having a lot of shoes or something.

I agree her comment about maturity was out of line, but maybe this type of collecting is new to her. Sometimes you get to be the person to introduce figure collecting to a new audience. When people are in my home checking out my collection the difference between wierd and cool is simply a matter of weather I felt defensive or confident.

Most of my friends are like me and don't think twice about such things. My wife thinks it's cool and has helped me score several of my favorites. Visitors who act like there's something wrong with it quickly fall on my bad side. A guest in my home who makes me feel uncomfortable will gain my contempt.

Guys, lets be honest, when you show a girl your collection, she doesn't care if you play with dollies; she's gonna be more concerned with the size of your...personality! Ahem!!!

If the woman doesn't appreciate your collection as a representation of who you are, it's time to get a new woman. Period.

True. That said - and this will not come as a shock to many - but I am 'in between' girlfriends......LOL Totally unrelated, but do we have any sugar momma types on the boards?

Accepting your collection represents you =/= supporting your freeloading ass and thousand dollar a month toy habit. :nono :lol

I agree. I think its almost never a conscious one. I think it's just how some women instinctively behave.

It's the same with any hobby really. If you can't find someone who shares your interests or at least accepts them, your relationship is screwed.

If you're serious about finding a lasting relationship, look beyond the physical attraction and look for compatibiltiy.

that's the thing I don't get, I've seen women that hate football, or hate hunting, hate skating, Women just do not share the same interests as guys, not many at least,
there are a lot of things guys love that women tent to hate.

yet, these women turn the other way or ignore it, that's what I don't get about this, that with toys it is okay to mock and ridicule men, but not with anything else

Yeah, but like Ween said...even if they dont share the hobby or like it, they still have to accept it. Thats called compromise in the relationship, and its the key to happiness within it.

no yeah I know
but in the case of toy collecting, it is like it became okay to hate it and bash it,
movies like 40 year old virgin and the show Collection intervention helped made that happen as well, is like, it's okay to hate on nerds now, like openly,

Women not caring for sports is the norm.

Men collecting toys is not.

Just remember that not all women are alike and I think most don't mock and ridicule men for collecting.

Look at it this way.....What do you think of men being Bronies?

I think nerds are quite popular right now because of shows like Big Bang Theory.

Actually, I think you'd find more men that hate on nerds than women.
