Bringing in TCU sucks.
Are they just going to reassemble the Southwest Conference that failed? The Texas teams are the reason for the B12's problems.
I would imagine it's the politics behind the Big 12 that is the problem and not the teams themselves. The Texas teams have some of the better records over the past 15 years the Big 12 has existed. It's all the jealousy, the making back room deals, the distrust amongst chairmen and all those giving and receiving money in the conference that have been causing all the blunt trauma to the Big 12.
Some of it has to do with the Longhorn network, yeah. But the Big 12 allowed it. The conference made their tv deals, and Texas happened to find some room to have their ESPN deal. And the aggies passed on it. Their problem. Then they chose to blame Texas for that and cause a big scene by going to the SEC. Well, congratulations to them, they'll get their butts handed to them for the next decade.
TCU has earned the right to be in the Big 12. Since 2000 they've gone 97-28, been ranked in the AP top 10 four times in the past 6 years, been no. 1 ranked defense in the country five times, of which were the past 3 consecutive years. So honestly, I don't think the Big 12 is trading down. They are getting an excellent football program.
Yes, I will definitely say the SWC was pretty bad, especially in it's latter years. But since then, several of the programs from that conference have really made names for themselves in the past decade and have appeared in countless bowl games.
TCU may not keep their 12-0 records anymore now that they've joined, but it'll make a lot of games much more interesting, and I look forward to them!
