I'll be damned. Northern Illinois made it into a BCS game. Good for them. Looks like those of you who thought Oregon and K state were it will get that match up as well.

So the Irish are only opening as 8 pt underdogs to Alabama? This is kinda disappointing. I want to be at least 2 TD underdogs. Hell, I love it that many expect Alabama to beat us by about 30 points. Being the underdog is fun. Being a huge underdog while 12-0 and ranked #1 is even better.

I don't think Florida should get a BCS bowl game over Georgia. Sad that Florida is rewarded for losing to Georgia earlier in the season.

You'd have to throw Carolina in over Ga then if that's the stance you take.

Only reason Georgia has two loses is they lost in championship game, an extra game Florida didn't have to play. Florida is being rewarded for not making the championship game.

Goofs play Texas Tech in the Muffler bowl down in Houston. :yess:

It's a prime-time game on Friday, Dec. 28 on ESPN. At least they don't have to play in Detroit at the pizza bowl. :lol

Most of these matchups are a joke.
Other than the championship game, the Fiesta and probably the Cotton the big bowls look like yawners.

What screws all of this up are the automatic conference tie-ins with the BCS. The only automatic should be that #1 plays #2 in the Title game. Everything else should be at large berths. Let the best teams match up against each other.

I'd say this will be cleared up in a couple of years with the new playoff system. But, again, automatic tie-ins will be in place for the major conferences.

Jesus, had GA Tech actually beaten FSU last night the Orange Bowl would be a 7-6 team vs NIU. Disgusting.

Yeah, I'm glad NIU is in there and I wouldn't be shocked if they beat FSU. Oregon should just kill K-State. I hope they do anyways.

Yeah, I think its crappy as well. GA is the second best team in the SEC and should be playing in a BCS game. They'll be in the cotton bowl now against the sooners and should kick their ass.

I'm surprised its 8. I think that its because ND is #1 and their D is pretty good. If they win that's what will save them because I really expect Bama or if it had been GA to just roll over them by 2 touchdowns if not 17 points. I'm no tide fan and not trying to be a **** to you but I hope they just run over the golden domers.

No way UGA would roll this ND team. Their defensive back 7 is way too soft (see the dreadful downfield "tackling" yesterday) and ND has the #1 scoring defense in the country for a reason: they're pretty good. I can't see UGA moving the ball up and down the field at will.

I expect an all-out battle with Bama. I think the teams matchup pretty well against each other, actually. ND has played SEC-like football this year (tough defense, especially in the redzone... make few mistakes on offense). And that's what this game will come down to: limited turnovers and big plays by the other team. If there is a blowout one way or the other it's because one of these teams turns the ball over a bunch of times. And I just don't see that happening.

I'll say this, though: The ND special teams are NOT that good. If there's a week spot on the team, that's it. If it comes down to a FGA I'll be pooping my pants. Because our kicker has literally missed PATs and chip shots then made a 52 yard FG in the same game. :lol A total crap shoot there.

GA will probably end up in the Capital One Bowl and Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl.

That's what is being projected now: UGA vs Nebraska in the Capital One Bowl and Texas A&M to the Cotton (against Oklahoma, I suppose, which wold be a good matchup).

Back to bowl line-up discussion.

Wouldn't something like this look a helluvalot better this year?

Rose Bowl
South Carolina vs Stanford

Fiesta Bowl
Oregon vs Florida

Orange Bowl
Kansas State vs LSU

Sugar Bowl
Texas A&M vs Georgia

Stupid automatic conference tie-ins and automatic dis-qualifiers. :banghead

Not really. I didn't like them as a kid either.

Indoctrinated bias!! :lol

Kidding. That's okay, they're my team likely for the same reason why you don't like them them: it's just the way it was from childhood on. My household was pretty much like the one in RUDY on football Saturdays. Except I didn't grow up in a blue collar Midwest town. I grew up in the deep South surrounded by bible-thumpers who made fun of the only Catholic family in the neighborhood. That kind of thing sticks with you, and tends to make your appreciation for the school and the football team deeply personal.

And this is also why no matter what happens on January 7th I'm having a hell of a lot of fun. The most I've had with college football in about 20 years, obviously. And this is coming from someone who's driven the 1,300 miles round trip at least once a year since 1992 to watch a game at ND (I was there for the Wake Forest game weekend a couple of weeks ago, which culminated in us being ranked #1 for the first time since 1993. It was amazing, to say the least). There's been a lot of head-shaking and exasperation during the past 2 decades... and that's why I'm soaking this up for all it's worth.

Probably :lol You'll have to ask Dad though to be honest because I don't remember why I started not liking them as a kid.
