It's time for the Bowl Challenge. $10 per entry. Payouts are 70%, 20%, 10% and last place gets a refund. Last year there were 131 entries.

All you do is pick the winner of each bowl game. Point spread is NOT involved just straight winners.

Points for bowls are tiered according to relative importance. Generic bowls are 1 point, mid grade bowls are 2 points, BCS bowls are 3 points and the MNC is worth 5 points.

If interested you can send $10 per entry via Paypal as a gift to [email protected]. Then I will email the pick sheet to you. On the 17th I will email out the spreadsheet with everyone's picks.

Deadline for entry fees and pick sheets is midnight Friday Dec 14th.

Butch Jones took Tennessee

I was a bit bummed about the announcement this morning but after his press conference I think the guy is gonna be alright. I like his enthusiasm and I hope he can get UT back to a decent program. He has already undone one rule that Dooley had in place where former players were not allowed to come help out with students. He said the doors will always be open to them and they will never be sent away.

Why did they have a hard time getting someone to coach that program? At one point Tennessee was considered a plum job amongst all college schools. In fact, before Saban came to Alabama, Tennessee was barely below them in prestige. They won a national title back in '98 and it seems like they made some poor decisions after Fulmer got fired.

Not really poor decisions just bad timing. Lane was a good hire but unfortunately his dream job came open and he bolted in the middle of the night and took most of our recruits with him and at that point in the season most of the good coaches were gone so they got stuck with Dooley whose coaching ability's drove us into the ground for three years.

As for this coaching search some say it is our schedule with a stretch of Georgia, Bama, USCe in October and every other year LSU. Strong used us to get a big payday from Louisville which I am glad we didn't get him because I can almost guarantee you that if the Texas job ever comes open Muschamp bolts to them and Strong will head to Florida.

Gundy was never going to leave OSU which I dont blame him the guy is a god there and has no reason to leave. Grudan was a pipe dream witch the media and some rabid fans came up with the idea and it took a life of its own. As far as I know the only two people who were actually offered the job were Strong and Jones with Butch being the only one who wanted to be here.

I see. Thanks for the info.

It may not seem like it but your program is much better off with Lane Kiffin gone. That guy will be fired at USC at the end of next year. He went 7-5 this year with all that talent while getting caught up in such minutia as deflating footballs before a game. Kiffin is a small timer whose time is coming to an end.

I hope your program turns it around because the Tennessee/Alabama rivalry is fierce.

Muschamp grew up a few miles from Ben Hill Griffin stadium. He is at his Dream job now. He won't be leaving that place until they fire him.

I'll admit, I was surprised at how well he played against Alabama.

This guy earned it. Congrats to Manziel.

There were other defensive players just as deserving as Teo, that's what hurt his chances. If ND had a lost he might not even have an invite.

Agreed. Because of this, he couldn't stand out and separate himself among the other candidates.

So what you guys are saying is that you're cool with the Heisman continuing to be mainly a stats-driven award. Got it.

That's cool. I just personally disagree. That kind of approach gave us winners like Ty Detmer and Gino Toretta. Extreme examples, yes, but still... not what the Trust's own Mission Statement preports itself to be.

I'm also not comparing Manziel to someone like Toretta. I think he's much more deserving. But not because of stats & numbers.
