Colossal Announcement?

Comparing the two together, there are differences in the original "footprints."

1) The background, though similar, is different.
2) The original "footprints" arent as deep or as well defined.

The new "footprints":

1) Must come from a two-legged animal, otherwise, there would be additional prints from the rear and the patterns would be different.
2) The strides and area between the larger prints do not match distance and direction of travel.
3) Though bigger in size, the prints make less of an impression in the "dirt" than the smaller ones.
4) One of the smaller prints overshadow the larger ones in impressions and depth while one matches exactly.

Hunter footprints are up now... Everything says a new Jurassic Park piece but it almost seems too obvious...

Wait a minute... I thought it was pretty clear by now that these were prints of a large predator dinosaur chasing a large herbivore. Say T.Rex chasing a duck-billed dino?

The patterns for stride/area (distance between prints) are not natural, as are directions the prints travel and distance between the prints.

Sideshow is not always accurate and correct regarding certain things (naming of certain Star Wars Militaries characters). Im pretty sure this whole thing was put together for eye candy, not accuracy, and not one tracker/hunter was on the team for the advert.

What do you mean?

I'm still not understanding what point you're trying to make.

Natural to what? And "directions of travel"? Also, what's wrong with the distance between the prints?

You're going to have to be more concise.

What he means is that every animal has a certain distance between strides.Say you are walking along and your stride is approximately 2 1/2 feet long. That distance would be the same in every step you took.Unless you had a limp or one leg was shorter than the other. Then there would be a difference in the amount of space btween steps for either leg.Same when you decide to start jogging or running the imprint made would deepen because more of your weight would be pressing down at a faster pace and your stride woulkd most likely increase the distance between prints. As far as the directional part that's just common sense, your steps would be in the direction you are traveling unless there is something odd about the way you walk.

Are you implying that the "sauropod" is perhaps injured? Granted, the whole hunter/prey motif would make sense, then, but I have to agree that it's being put together for eye candy more so than accuracy. For instance, they're definately sauropod prints, but I somehow doubt that we'll see any diorama with a sauropod and a theropod together... that is, assuming this is a product from the JP license, which is a pretty safe bet at this point.

If it were just dinosaurs, it would be an option, especially considering the similarity of the theropod prints to prints found of Carcharodontosaurus saharicus, which are believed to have preyed upon large sauropods such as Argentinasaurus. Still, Argentinosaurus had prints a fair bit larger than any theropod which preyed upon it, and weighed in exccess of 100 tons. This again is a strike against the teaser, since the herbivore prints don't indicate such a disparity.

Again, I think it's just to establish a "carnivorous dinosaur + herbivorous dinosaur" and likely "+ humans" framework in line with JP. I have to bet on possibly the scene of the Gallimimus stampede being attacked by the T.rex while Grant, Lex, and Tim watch; or it could be two statues/maquettes - one of a sauropod (probably Brachiosaurus) and the other of a theropod (could be any number of possibilities from the films). Just my two cents as to where they're probably going with this.

I really think that people are reading WAY too much into these.

It's a "teaser" set of Predator and Prey dino prints. That's it.

The distance between prints, the "depth" of each set of prints, the difference in the backgrounds of each teaser, etc. really means absolutely nothing. It is what it is...a teaser.

Agreed. The only thing that I think everyone seems settled on is that it's more than likely a JP teaser, using dinosaur prints and an amber-colored background.

Not reading anything into this .I could give a rats rear end about any dios or statues or maquettes being made.An explanation was asked for about what was meant by distance between strides and direction of prints and such.I was answering a question about tracking. You asked for an explanation of what was meant and got it.Never assume you know what someone else is thinking when they answer your questions.

Relax. Sabres wasn't intending to be offensive, but I'm assuming that's how you took it. ;) Just drawing a conclusion from the given premises, which would seem the logical thing to do. I'll leave it there, no offense intended.

but if its a new announcement...it can't be JP.

is that confirmed ?

The "colossal announcement" is said to be of possibly a "new product" or a "new line," but a new license wasn't mentioned. If it deals with dinos, I'm intrigued; if it deals with JP I'm happy. :D
