It would definitely be better at another time of year. Maybe someday we can do one in the spring or fall.
I think what's not being thought out completely is this:
Let's say (and I'm making this up) that SD's con center holds 150,000 max. And that's what SDCC is selling out at. It's crowded and we have our complaints.
BUT...
Let's say that LV's con center holds (and, once again, I'm making this up) 250,000 people. It's naive to think that the demand for SDCC would not fill it. I'm pretty dang sure it would sell out wherever it is.
So then, you'd have a con center filled at a capacity of 250,000 instead of 150,000. I think that's worse! The amount of people you'd fight through would be just as bad because although the hall is bigger, it'd still be maxed out.
At least in SD we don't have to also battle 100º+ weather as we go from place to place to meet up, eat and party. Plus, in SD, we can walk most places. Too hot and too far to walk to places in LV, esp after walking all day in what is a *larger* convention center!
We'd have to cab it everywhere which is costly and time consuming in the massive traffic that all the cabs would create outside the con center.

Is anyone going to the LV Comics Expo?
https://lasvegascomicexpo.com
They have a pretty great guest list and would be interesting to see how a show does in LV.
I can see that happening.
But on the other hand, you could possibly have a "Hall H" that holds 12, 15, 20, or 25,000 people instead of the 6,500 Hall H currently holds. So even if there is more people in attendance, the larger venue could still accommodate more people. Hall H on Saturday this year was a joke. I think they need to start with a larger venue but keep the attendance near what it currently is before doubling the amount of attendees. Let it grow to fit the space, not max it out before finding the happy middle ground.
Yep, going to have a booth there.
You will have a lot of fun Loki. You just have to decide whether you'd rather walk the floor and see the booths or whether you'd rather wait in lines to see panels. I usually go for the floor but have known to stray into the panels from time to time. One memorable one was the first showing of Trick'r'Treat a few years back.
I can see that happening.

The thing is though that even if they have a Hall that holds 15 or 20 thousand people - you have probably double the amount of people attending the con - still going to be super long lines and again not everyone will get in...and you could be waiting in long lines outside in the hot weather.
I can't see them only selling tickets to fill half the space. They are going to try to sell the max. If it doesn't sell out...well then you will get your wish...but if it does...it's not going to be any better than SD.
I have to agree with Sam on this one. If Con moves to Vegas....I think my Con days will be over. I really love San Diego and having the Con there is a huge bonus for me. The Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle is getting bigger every year - so maybe I'll just stick with that one.
My point (regarding attendees/space) in a much earlier post. I will also probably end my Con days if in LA or Vegas. Despite all the hard (and undeniable) info about space and accommodations, the intangible element regarding staying in San Diego is its ambience. Been in LA; been to Vegas. They have their plusses, but they cannot match the charm of the Gaslamp or the weather in San Diego during that time.
I think a Hall H line of 25,000 would be much much worse.
Also, it would cost a lot more to rent a larger venue, so they're going to want it at full capacity as much as possible. I don't think they could afford to lose out on 100,000+ tickets just to keep crowd size small.
Its already at 25,000![]()
