Anyone else impressed at how good this is for the age?

I thought taht was pretty good, the chebacca scream was the best for me though. I wouldnt mind trying my hands at stop motion again, but I remember it taking way to long before I got any good lenght out of it.

The Muggs are all using same base body, with different paint apps. It gets visually repetitive after more than a couple. The Medi VCDs are fully original sculpts, though pricier. I thought this was common sense...

That kind of comes off as hypocritical considering you have a Kubrick in your avatar. How many times has Medicom released repaints of the same molds, you should be use to that. I like the economical aspect of MM, plus I dig the artistry that goes into them.

Kind of a hypocrite? How so? I am not a completist of any line - of the Kubricks I only own Yak, a Gamorrean, and a pair of blue and red guards. Not a whole lot re-use there, apart from the legs. Nice try. :lol

Having a complete Kubrick collection? That's not my point. What I was refferring to is how Medicom uses the same parts (and repaints them as well) to make the different figures, 99% of Kubricks are composed of the same bodies, I should know since I collect them. They are no better or worse than the Mighty Muggs. So it's hypocritical to knock one line when the other does the same thing. No "trying" when it's just sheer truth. But I give you the pass for the hilarious sig.

Yeah, I was going to mention the Kubricks as well, but they've kind of strayed from their roots in the last few years. They used to have more of a minimalist design that let the paint tell the story, but recently they've been using a lot more sculpted parts. They look good, though, so I'm not complaining.

The Mini-Mates are probably closer to the Mighty Muggs in terms of using a more or less standard body.

And let me just say that if we sound a little defensive it's because you basically said anyone who likes Mighty Muggs is stupid. I don't think everyone has to like them, but a lot of people do, and for good reasons which we've explained.

I would agree with the MiniMates angle. To me MM's capture some of the purest forms of character traits that even the realistic Hasbro figures miss. I love Kubs, Legos, and MMs, great variety and some of the cooler aspects of the SW license that it has to offer!

My point was about diminishing returns in collecting, not the mere fact of re-using parts. Kubricks usually hide the base body with sculpted parts, which is especially the case with the few, and excellent ones I own.

The Muggs are done on the cheap, nothing wrong with that. I have Grievous and a Stormtrooper. Beyond that I think I'm done. I just like things a little more upscale.

Never implied that. I just said they're cheap (as in low budget) productions. That's not always a bad thing!

Well, you said you "thought it was common sense" that they "visually repetitive after more than a couple" which I took to mean that anyone who liked them after more than a couple didn't have any common sense. :huh

Not that I'm angry about it or anything.

I can't recall if we've seen all of these or not, but they look good:

I will get the CC and the Snake Eyes, maybe the Storm Shadow too but unless they do a Zartan and a few other key Cobra officials like Destro, etc. Then I won't be buying GJ Joes Muggs past series one.

Hope the helmet can come off Vader. It doesn't look right.

Regardless, I'll probably buy it since Vader was one of my favorites from the first waves.

If that is the case, I would imagine that this reveal Vader does as well. That means I will pick him up. :chew

Hmm, I will pick up Tarkin but Han is ok and Vader is all right but I need more aliens and monsters. Where is my Wampa? Or cantina aliens? Still the GI JOE ones are great, Cobra Commander fo show. Makes me think of the episode "Once upon a Joe". :rotfl
