Considering Dropping 1:6 lines?

Well as long as Medi and HT are rocking house, and when SS does some good 1's too I'm interested. But PF's , though great, are just too much money/space for me. Besides, I like TOYS more than statues with clothes.

I don't know what lines to drop. I already decided not to be a completist in the 1/6 SW line and I'll only keep the main Jedi and Sith. But as of late, I've been getting into 1/6 figs a lot; I just bought FMA Alphonse and the T-800. My collection is already thinned down to the pieces I really want; I let go of a lot of my Weta pieces in the past. I am definetely going to be a completist in the 1/6 LOTR line and the LOTR PF line but that's it. I was contemplating whether I should get rid of my Marvel vs. dioramas, but after SS revealed the latest piece I can't do that now.
I guess time and space will tell which ones will have to go.

Does anyone feel like getting out of the Sideshow 1:6 figure lines (SW, LOTR, etc) with all these new lines and announcments comming?

I'm sorry, but this question makes no sense to me...

Dropping beloved Sideshow lines because other companies make 12" figures too?

I will eventually pare down some lines because of space and economic issues... but "getting out" of Sideshow 1:6? What's that supposed to mean? Why not just ask if some may be getting out of some 1:6 licensed lines?

Just seems like discrimination towards Sideshow to me...

why is it discrimination? it was a simple question and I collect other sideshow stuff not just the 1:6. get the stick out of your ass bud.

if i was discriminating towards sideshow then I wouldnt be taking the time to ask the question, they'd be sold off already.

Dropped all the 1:6 lines except for the Dead. PF, Dioramas, VS, Comiquettes, keeping me quite happy with Marvel right now. Of course if there was a 1:6 Star Trek line, but thats just crazy talk.

Why not ask a simple general question, why make it Sideshow specific? It is you who asked this in this way and you who have to explain why you specifically pointed out one company over others and you who responded in such a venal matter. :monkey4. That says more to me than anything else.

This is a Sideshow Board, bud, why don't you go to your Medi-World board and ask the same question about dropping Medicom 1:6 stuff and see what response you get?

Because the sideshow 1:6 is what im considering selling off. how does that make me discriminatory towards SS? I think I was very clear that they seem to be giving me the least enjoyment overall, but it is hard for me to let them go because they are cool and I do like them.

I respond to you in a venal matter because I don't need your high and mighty attitude. Remember telling me that If I have nothing productive then dont say it? Well how about you practice what you preach? Im sure you don't think that Im trying to bash sideshow, because if you read my posts there's no hint of that anywhere, yet you seem to want to turn this conversation in that direction with your accusations of discrimination. Geek.

Look dude get that "Nash hates sideshow and only loves Medicom" stick out of your ass because it is DEEPLY imbeded and affecting your brain.

Oh and that always seems to be the easy response for you guys "why dont you go back to mediworld boards blah blah". Here's an idea, why dont you come up with something different and original?

calm down fellas.

I don't personally care which company someone says they're 'getting out of'. The idea of exclusivity within collections just seems barmey to me. But like I said, whatever makes people happy :)

I just like the fact that I have toys, props, 7" figures, 12" figures, and other things in my collection. I don't care who makes it... if there's something I like, I'll buy it.

I understand what youre saying totally HA, and I live by that rule as well. But that doesnt make things any easier.

Everybody on here has different reasons for collecting certain things. Lord knows I'm not a millionaire but I'd like to pick and choose what I collect right now and that all started when Hasbro started their POTF2 line.

With the POTF2 line, I'd try hunting after every figure I could find. I'd check out Borders to see when the next issue of Toyfare, Lee's, or Tomarts magazines were in stock to see what I should start planning next. My collecting consumed me as I was buying everything in sight to become a completist.

I stopped at around the time Episode 1 came out. I felt really stupid. I collected for the sake of two things 1) Love for Star Wars, 2) Hopefully make some money off of those 15-20 years down the road. When I knew the second reason wasn't feasible, I asked myself what the hell I was doing spending all this money. Was I going to have hundreds of action figures tacked up on walls (which I had no intention of doing) or keep them stored away taking up room in a basement.

I sold my collection very cheaply to a buyer knowing I took a risk that didn't pay off in the long run. I wanted to know that if I was getting involved in collecting anything ever again, that the collectible needed a purpose to be in my collection. There was no longer a reason for me to worry that I was going to be spending major money for something sitting in storage in a basement.

nash, whatever decision you make whether or not you want to continue buying Sideshow's 1/6 line is up to you. as long as they have a purpose or a reason to be in your collection where you could be proud to showcase what you have. my advice is to be picky with what you collect. there will be better pieces and lines in the years to come. you could slowly add up a collection thats worthwhile to you and you alone. you'll get a better sense of enjoyment and not always wondering if you did the right thing because you made a decision based on your own specific preferences instead of looking back at a collection that you feel got caught up in the moment...

Nitro

Thanks for the advice Nitro, this is just all new to me, ive never had to contemplate selling things off before, but to be honest with this TF I feel pretty overwhelmed by it all. And just trying to figure out what I really "need" to have.

Pjam, you should stop your generalizations of me because I dont go around generalizing you. Just because Im thinking of selling "sideshow" figures, doesnt make me a sideshow hater or trying to start trouble here. Shai did it, Toe did it, so why dont you go give them poo about it?

I think you are the one who is discriminatory towards me. not me towards sideshow. But then again, I could really give a crap what you think of me, so go ahead.

*forgot to add, the intent of this thread was 1:6 figures or lines in general (read the title).

I only collect Star Wars so I will definatly keep the 1/6 line. I can't afford the PF and I'm sure I will get a few of the new dioramas.

I will be completing the 1:6 lines from LOTR and SW. I love the way these are made and for the price I can get so many. I know that some don't like them for whatever reason be it they're dolls or some other reason. The PF from LOTR I will be getting the Fellowship, Eomer, GTW, Morgul Lord, Theoden, etc. if some of these are made. In the SW PF Line I will be getting Maul, Cody, 501st, and a few others. The Dio lines just a few here and there so my buying on those will be limited. I will get the Clone Commander busts from GG and the Fellowship from that line. Other than that I have to stop someplace so once I get those pieces it will be very selective time for me. The only way I would drop the 1:6 lines is if I had to cancel or sell some because of money.

I envy you josh for having a definite deciding format for you.

Im still trying to figure out what mine is... :monkey2

Well, its only because of me not having a formula before and getting myself in over my head. I had to set down and decide what do I want, how much can I spend, etc. Between buying a car, saving for a house, etc. It's not easy at all.

It seems like if all else failed and you only could collect one format that you would be totally content with just 1:6 figs. correct me if im wrong?

But I think that's pretty cool.
