It seems like if all else failed and you only could collect one format that you would be totally content with just 1:6 figs. correct me if im wrong?

But I think that's pretty cool.

Right. If all else failed I would be totally content with the 1:6 lines. Which suprises me cause I never thought I'd get into these.

They're very well done.

Honestly I never was a SS hater. It started out as more of defending something that majority here seem to make fun of. I guess things get carried away and jokes turn into opinions of people? But hey, thanks for that Shai :rock.

i will still continue with my lotr 12" line. since that's the only one i could afford as they are much cheaper than the legendary busts and PFs. although there is the new diorama line, i still prefer the 12" for their mixed media, sort of like budget PFs for me. i'm not a completist in the first place so i'll still be able to cope.... barely. until i graduate and get a job.

hiya noel! havent seen you in awhile. :duff

I personally got into the whole 12" figures starting with customizing my own because my favorite movie characters were not being made. Since then Sideshow has made most of the figures I wanted, and my customs have been sold off. My whole intention in collecting 1/6 figures was that the pose can be changed from time to time, and they are not just static poses that will collect dust. I'll stick with the 12" line and if it ends I'll go back to customizing my own if need be.

Very well said.
I can't think of any variation on that.

So, there. I stick to my 12"ers!!!! :maul

"DOLLS" RULE! :rock :rock :D

i actually really like posing my figures, but sideshow figure's bodies dont actually offer too much with those crappy figure bodies.

and their PF format figures are just...too great...

But dropping them would be economical ;),

I know you can get better bodies out there, but I must be really lucky with my choice of poses (or how i look at anatomy when I'm posing) because my 12"ers never look anything other than 100% human, and I've never wanted a pose I couldn't do due to the SS body.

My main problem (and it only showed on luke with the tight jumpsuit) was having to pad the gaps around the hips

I found my difficult to pose for some reason. and this is cause i change it usually every week lol.
But, something about the proportion of the arms also screws up the posing and never looks as natural as even a dml body (which is pretty simple)

well to be honest I dont own THAT many medicoms. I mean galactiboy has me beat by miles.

Not sure why I always become a measuring stick when people refer to you Medicom collecting :lol And I have 9 RAH/RAS figures (not to mention Spawn on order) in my collection as well as around 20 or so smaller Medicom items... in case you want to continue keeping score :D

But I collect in the way that works best for me. If a company is producing a high quality (or sometimes just interesting) figure that I want I buy it, be it Medicom, Hot Toys, Sideshow or DiD. I am definitely more focused on 1/6... but that hasn't stopped me from smaller (less expensive) or larger (more expensive) pieces outside of the scale I prefer.

It can be cool to have collections like Gruson where all the pieces are in similar scale and displayed very artfully... but it can also be cool to have a mix-n-match approach. I actually really liked the picture you had with Obi Wan displayed in front of the MR lightsaber... kinda added to the display (IMO).

You must own one of each, of everything, Joseph! :D

Yes, but I already have 1 fiance, who I'd like to keep... and I have a feeling if I took your advice I'd have a lot of collectibles and a very tired right hand :naughty

My wife has the inate ability to tell when I'm buying a figure that actually means something to me and that I'll enjoy for years VS. a "cool for now" toy that I obsess over for a while then conveniently forget (incidentally, I'll be updating my thread in the For Sale section pretty soon  )

So, as whipped as it sounds, I use her as a barometer to keep my collecting relatively under control.

I prefer 12" figures, but I'm willing to step into other scales when I think the particular item is too cool for words. For instance, a Palpatine PF would look ultra-cool behind 1:6 vader and Luke fighting. The larger the scale, the less inclined I am to collect too many. Larger scaled items need to be able to really stand on their own, because unless you've got a lot of space and a hell of a display sensibility, it easily becomes a clutter and NO figure ,no matter how well crafted, stands out.

Dolls rule.

lol I've contempated selling all my RAH figures and DCD figures before... always, and sometimes I still do. I contempate stop collecting period.

but when it comes down to it, I totally ***** out.

lol not only that, I NEVER EVER EVER!!! collect one single line.. my RAH collection is diverse, and will continue that way for the rest of my collecting days.
