Another question comes to mind...
If it was the processor that was hacked, couldn't other sites be compromised as well? Or do those processors work with only one store at the time?
As for the pre-orders also compromising cc's, it doesn't surprise me, because you send the cc info through when you pre-order.

Yep, there are probably 100s of businesses with the same problem. But we may never know who the processor is and who uses them.

What is everyone's credit limit?! Someone said they discovered thousands charged!?!?

Mine's not much at all. I wonder if there's any rhyme or reason to who is getting hit and who isn't.

My limit is high enough

This happened to me twice via paypal over the last six years - this is now the 3rd time my card has been compromised....

First two times $1000s were charged....so far, i've had just a preaut, but I'll call to cancel and issue a new card....

So frustrating....

If I was not a member here, I would still not know. That is what truly angers me. Not contacting your customers via email is UNACCEPTABLE!

Thanks to all board members here for the 'heads up'

Thats Exactly my point! its ^^^^ed up that they yet to Contact anybody about this! this is very serious. No very Prudent or professional. thats a Big nono.

I was checking my second credit card that I may have used in the past and saw an Itunes charge and started to freak out thinking that one had been hacked too, but then I realized it was actually something I actually purchased so....:duh

Still I'm with all of you who are really upset at CSC not informing their clients about what was happening. I understand it isn't them directly but it would've been fair to just let us know. Frankly I'm not looking to order from them again not because they got hacked but because they didn't feel the need to let us know about the potential issue.

Thank you to everyone on this site, because if it hadn't been for you I wouldn't have been alerted and may have had worse than a single B.S. $1.00 charge

From the Fwoosh concerning them letting their customers know:

We expect to have what need by Monday to send out what information we have directly to the customer group that could potentially have been impacted. The draft is already in the works and we are simply waiting on the clearance we need so that we do not get sued for potentially 'reporting false information.'

Thanks,
T-

To their credit, at least they're talking to their customers and being as honest as they can. But I think some kind of notice is needed, no matter how simple.

I got a little more information to my particular situation, not sure if related to CSC or not.

I have (or more like had) a Visa CC that I was using strictly for my collectibles and for emergencies only. I most likely used this Visa to purchase from CSC in the past, but not positive on that. My Amex I live off of and pay balance in full monthly. So this past Tuesday, one of my pups had a Vet emergency and I had to take him in. $260 later and he is getting better. I go to pay with said Visa, and it's rejected. Vet doesn't take AmEx, so I have to pay with my debit, which I hate to do because I don't get any points, and the $260 was enough that I didn't want to "bounce" anything, but wasn't that worried about it, so paid with my Debit and went on my way. Go to my bank same day and they say my Visa had a fraud alert which is why it was stopped. I call up the dispute company, and they say I had some questionable charges. One was the Subway Shining figure from toys2.net (which I never got said price difference refund on) and I told them that was valid and another was from "PCTools" in amount of $53.95.

I have since canceled that Visa and just got off the phone about the PCTools purchase, their 1800# was on the line item. This purchase was made on 2/2/9. They sell PC SW (obviously), but more specifically Spyware Doctor. I know what spyware doctor is, I think I installed it on an older machine, but I certainly never paid for it and would have only downloaded a free copy as it is free and if I had been asked to pay or provide any CC info, I would have stopped right there. The guy on the phone said it may be a renewal from a previous purchase. I told him I never purchased this intentionally and wanted it canceled.

I'm the type of person that keeps bills for a few years back and I just got done looking through them and I can't find any charge from "PC Tools".

I'm not sure if this is related to CSC CC issues or not, but the timing was very coincidental that my Visa halted my card right around when this was happening and I'm sure i Used that Visa, the one I use for collectible purchases, at CSC. I'm just glad I found this charge.

Unfortunately, I used my Amex to buy a couple pred figures on 3/9, so I'm watching that very closely too.

Just found out that my new VISA account is active now so hopefully I get my card soon. And thanks to Chase, my fraudulent charges are nowhere to be found in the statement activity. Chase :rock!

I did get my two predators today, which is very quick, recieved on 4th day, and they were packed exceptionally well.

I will still shop with CSC, but they really need to do whatever they can to prevent this sort of thing from happening again, if possible.

You got your Predator 1 Hot Toy figures??? Already, that was fast??? Or did you get older Predator figures???

I too have a seperate card I only use for collectibles, which was not only for CSC but Sideshow. It only has a $500 limit, so it filled up quick with the fraud charges since I had 2 Stormtroopers on it already.

So now I'm up to 9 days waiting for my new card with Snake Eyes and DCUC7 waiting for my new card to arrive.

But I totally recommend a low limit card exclusively for your collectibles purchases. $500-$1000 MAX. That way if you order from a shady place and your card ends up stolen, you aren't out a ton if the CC company won't back you up or something crazy happens. This small fiasco has an important lesson for sure!

Yeah, that's good advice... I think I can actually move the amounts of credit in my cards at will, so I might put the bulk in one and use the other exclusively for toys.

Great........I provided my credit card for a pre-order mid February. F-ing crooks hope they rot in a warm place.

I am concerned with CSC lack of acknowledgement to customers beyond relying on board members to communicate on their behalf.

Wel, if they just go out and say "your cards are being hacked" a lot of other crooks could simply dispute the legit purchases they made and get the stuff for free. I guess.

Bastard crooks!!! :emperor Happened to me too!! But I had no idea from where until now.I use CSC exclusively for all my pre-orders.

So this was a inside job? A bit confused.

I think what someone explained was the CSC uses some CC processor for their orders (not really sure how that works), and many other businesses use the same company to process their shopping orders, and that processing compnay was hacked, not just CSC. So other people are going through the same crap, not just us geeks who collect dolls.

Fortunately there's this forum to at least alert us to we can take somewhat immediate action or at least monitor the situation.

Yup, my mortgage company COUNTRYWIDE had an internal employee selling all of their customer's personal info including SSN's and was busted by the FBI. They did not provide proper security for their customer's personal record database and... ahem... "lost" an "unencrypted" backup tape. I got the letter from them informing me of the security breach only about 6 months later after the fact saying that I was a victim of identity theft and all they offered me was free credit monitoring for 1 year. Needless to say I'm in on a major class action suit against them right now.

Damn, I was a member of countrywide too.

There seriously needs to be something developed, something no one has thought of yet, to minimize ID theft.

Whomever comes up with it will make millions.

No, the Lost and She predator. Got for $125 shipped each, which I was okay with.

The P1 is a pre-order and coupon wasn't valid on any preorders.
