Yup.
Slade Wilson, Lady Shiva and David Cain mnipulated her into assuming her role as the One Who is All with the Leagus of Assassins. Unfortunately, the story never had it's own spotlight, and it was relegated to being something that popped up in other titles (Robin, Supergirl, Teen Titans---I don't think it even got mention in Batman or Detective Comics). But Tim Drake discovered what was going on and pulled her out. She played a pretty big role post-R.I.P. too.

As it should be. :D

The is only one Batgirl and her name is Barbara Gordon. :rock :rock :rock :peace

Right. Just like there's only one Robin and his name is Nightwing. :lol :duh

I've never actually seen an Adam Hughes Cassandra Batgirl....anyone got a link for one? Never seen an Arisia either...

Mention was made of new art so it got my hopes up for the possibility...

Adam is a big fan of Barbara Gordon. But seeing as these statues are based on covers; I guess it will have to be whatever batgirl is current in the comics. Anyone know...?

...which were solidly crushed by this. My gut tells me that the new Batgirl is not Cass.

(I don't think it's Oracle either.)

I guess time will tell. I'm hoping that if all else fails, there will be an Adam Hughes Huntress cover in the future. With Black Canary, Catwoman and Zatanna already done, Helena is the last key piece for me.

Dang nabbit!

This "The is only one Batgirl and her name is Barbara Gordon." should have read "There is only one Batgirl, IMO, and her name is Barbara Gordon."

Oh well...that's what I get for typing too fast! :LOL

I still think Adam should forget about the other posers and go with Barbara!

If he makes Batgirl it better be the original and not the new version, Cassandra was just a waist of a character.

There is a new Batgirl comic that just came out where nobody knows who she is yet, maybe that's the one.

She was a waste of the character because she was poorly handled. Same went with the Stephanie Brown incarnation of Robin who could have been fantastic playing against Bruce but was tossed out once the writers were unsure what to do with her. Damian seems to be filling in nicely and Grayson is definitely fun to watch as Batman but I have a feelin that their tenure will be short-lived. Babs was in Blackest Night still in wheelchair so if the new Batgirl is her, she definitely has some explaining to do if she is running around on rooftops.

Maybe she has bionic legs now like Professor X uses to help him walk in the future on Wolverine & The X-men, lol I dunno, it's probably somebody new all together.

They've said that since Babs is their only "differently-abled" superhero, she wouldn't be getting the use of her legs any time soon. But I agree that she's the only Batgirl. That new costume design is awful.

Ahs there never been a Batgirl cover made by AH! at all? I would think that if DC were to make a statue of her, it could be based on one of his covers . . .assuming one exists.

The original 73 issue run of Cassandra's Batgirl was one of the best new comics out of any company in a long time. It was occaissionally screwed up with bad art, but the character had more brass and was more creatively conceived than Babs' female Robin of the Silver Age. Atleast Cass was a female Batman (infinitely more so than Kane's Batwoman; or even more so than the closest to date, but still lesser, Helena Bertinelli).

Not that many people like that character, sorry. It's like Hallie Berry's Catwoman, not the same. The AH Batgirl Statue will not be the Cassandra version because the statue will need a face and her face is all covered up, it's all about the face. It will be this newest version that we don't know who the person playing her is.

One does not exist at this time.

I'm thinking that the lack of a cover has really has no bearing on the statues though because they are also using stuff originally done. AH! pieces sell really well and I wouldn't be surprised even if the new Batgirl was Bruce Wayne himself reincarnated, if Adam wanted to do Barbara they'd let him. Look at Alex Ross, he does whatever the hell he wants despite what is current or going on in the books. One would imagine they'd let AH! do the same thing considering this is his line.

i agree with Devil though, Cassandra was a bad ass BatGirl and good storytelling is good storytelling regardles of who the current BatGirl. Yes she wasn't the proto comic girl but her background is very interesting and her skills rival anyone's.

It's too bad more people didn't pickup on the run when it was going, i guess she wasn't cute enough.

Yeah, I agree cause Harley didn't have a cover and they said art would be made up for the statues.

Since when has what "tha many people" been the watermark of a quality character? (Which is all she has in common with Halle Berry's abomination).

Barbara Gordon is one of my favorite characters, but she has more depth as Oracle than she ever did as Batgirl. She's evolved to an extent that her former persona would never have permitted.

That's a fact. (Although she's hotter than Gordon too.)

I agree that she doesn't have the pinup quality that the other characters in this line do, and it's probably not the right place for her. I do wish she'd get the credit she deserves in three dimensions though.

I definitely have no interest in seeing a statue of the newest incarnation. Especially if it's Misfit.

The lack of pin-up quality is easily handled by Adam.

Case of point

Problem solved. :D

I agree that she is better as Oracle and has more depth to her now but the Cassandra Batgirl won't make the list, she has no face! AH! is about sexiness and fun and Cassandra isn't either of those. You said you wanted a 3D version of her, they already made a statue of her.

The lack of face in her full mask, yes. That wouldn't work. But she ended her initial run with only a half mask. So she does have the potential for it, even if her personality doesn't lend to cheesecake depictions. She has been drawn with sex included, but it's the kind of appeal that she seems almost oblivious to.

When she went bad, in particular, she was pretty smokin.

It was kinda weak.

Hmmmmm... Who is she??

Batgirl #2

Written by Bryan Q. Miller
Art by Lee Garbett & Trevor Scott
Cover by Phil Noto

As the new Batgirl continues her nightly mission, the mystery of her secret identity intensifies. Now she has become the target of both Gotham City's heroes (who don't take kindly to a new person wearing the cape and the cowl) and its villains (who want to see the entire Bat-family six feet under)!

Worth repeating. :D

Agreed. Regardless of how "bad@$$" she was...the character was, IMO, just unlikeable and didn't bring anything to the Batverse that wasn't already there.
