Re: Current discount codes at SSC: B3M1N3 $20 off February Code

I know that many people have complained about SS shipping fees going up. It's probably been mentioned that when adding B3M1N3 to Leia, her shipping fee jumps up $4. When removing the code, shipping drops back down by $4... Saving $16 is still cool, but do y'all think I should call SS and ask them about this?

I would, its only $4 but thats crazy. Why should the coupon have anything to do with the shipping cost. If its a flat rate it shouldn't jump back and forth because a coupon was used.....

The coupon code weighs 2 pounds... its in the fine print

:rotfl

I got my Spacetrooper from Sideshow yesterday. $17.84 to ship. Now I know that's the going rate lately. But here's the issue. The e-mail with info sait it was 3lbs. Seriously?? One figure? No way. 1.5 lbs at the most. Even worse if you like on their website under product info it says

Dimensional Weight
5 lbs*
Int'l Dim. Weight
6 lbs*

Ridiculous. The employees who weigh it must have their hand on the scale and pushing down at the same time!! :lol

Re: Current discount codes at SSC: B3M1N3 $20 off February Code

Measure the box and then input the dimensions on the UPS and FedEx sites to confirm the dimensional weight - it has nothing to do with actual product/contents weight.

Ok... So shipping weight goes by box size. Now I feel dumb.... :slap Still ridiculous how expensive it's gotten. I have a friend who works for UPS. She says it has gone up but shouldn't be that much. Sideshow can't possibly just be charging the actual shipping rate. Especially with corporate discounts for companies with high volume. We're paying a % of either what it costs for them to have them shipped from China, a wharehousing fee, something. The $20 coupon pretty much just covers shipping now. Not much of a deal. :(

Re: Current discount codes at SSC: B3M1N3 $20 off February Code

Actual weight is used if it's greater than dimensional weight - for instance if you packed bricks inside that trooper box.

I have no idea how much Sideshow pays for shipping - it's irrelevant. The only thing I care about is how much I get charged so I can compare it to what other stores are offering.

Look at it this way... Toys/figures made in volume cost a small fraction of their retail price too and no one expects them be sold at cost. :) And $20 off is still $20 off.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC: B3M1N3 $20 off February Code

Size and weight are ********. Their star wars figures are wrapped in pretty much paper and much smaller and thinner and still cost the same if not more than hot toys.

Over here.

Your right to an extent. The problem is price gouging. Maximizing profits. Nearly EVERY corporate company does it. I worked in retail for over 20 years. Companies lie every day about their pricing. "SALE PRICE", "LOWEST PRICE EVER", blah blah. Its all a load of bull to make people feel like their getting a deal. One company I worked for would literally have things in their ads like that. "Lowest price ever" when yet a month ago it was cheaper with no special sale headline. I worked for 4 major Consumer Electronics companies. These items were not consumable goods where costs fluctuate. They played games with pricing. They would literally have the "cost" of the product fluctuate in the system to reflect the sale price so stores wouldn't show differences in profit margin during sales. And this was the same product sitting in their company owned wharehouse, not new shipments with new dealer incentives or discounts, nor discontinued merchandise needed to be clearanced out The best was dealing with customers who saw it cheaper and then would complain. Every company tries to find a way to pass along hidden costs to the consumer. Hence the "$20 off monthly coupon" that we are so accustomed to now. Sideshow knows many fans wait for the coupon.

Not trying to argue, just the world we live in. Unless someone I knew worked at Sideshow and told me they really charged the "actual" shipping cost, I don't believe they are not over charging. They are a manufacturer and distributor. Their business is to make a profit on the products they make and distribute. Not an extra buck or 2 on shipping to the consumer. That's just wrong. But they need to please the shareholders more than their actual customers.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC: B3M1N3 $20 off February Code

I'm in full agreement with the points you made - there's no way Sideshow charges or has ever charged actual shipping charges. I think it's fine to up-sell shipping within reason - they have to account for fluctuations when they quote so many months out, plus there's no reason they have to pass along carrier discounts to the customer - they also have to pay warehouse/shipping staff to get the stuff out. If UPS charges $15 counter rate and Sideshow charges $17.89 I don't consider that gouging - even if their volume agreement nets them a $10 or $11 price point.

In selling my own stuff, I make money on shipping and I lose money on shipping. It's a wash in the end but easier to manage by having blanket instead of zoned rates.

It's the HANDLING part of shipping and handling. HANDLING costs a lot. ;)

They overcharge you so they can discount International shipping...

Thank you :)
