Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

Yes, people called in about real codes from time to time not working but in a situation of a real code someone has a problem with it's easy and quick to assist folks with a real code. People calling in about fake codes (which there were MANY calls and chats that occurred) takes longer as the person inquiring about it doesn't always believe the CS reps (9 times out if 10) when they inform them about it being fake and so they will keep them on the line for an extended amount of time because they aren't getting the answer they want. In some instances yesterday some of our CS reps had to endure being yelled and cursed at over fake codes. One could say that's part of the territory in that sort of position within a company but it makes me sad and frustrated when a human being has to endure bad treatment that they are undeserving of.

But again, the fake codes were not started or even continued as something malicious (at least that's my perspective). Just unexpected side effects occurred.

-SideshowAlex
That behavior is highly unacceptable. I can understand and appreciate the confusion/frustration but to behave in that manner is repulsive.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

True or false: robopredinator was one of those callers who complained about the codes.

Yeah this thread needs to exist next year for invite only. Make all those moocher turds find their own codes.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

The blame is 50/50. The fake code thing wasn't malicious but people were asked to stop and didn't. This is a debate that could go on and on but it isn't worth it.

I think this thread should just be nuked and rules put into place over the entire debacle with penalties.

I think you must be cruising for friends. IMO, you have never contributed positively to this thread, you have taken from it and won product and tried to scalp said product. Maybe the concept of this thread goes private. Personally speaking, I think the first and only people that should get any penalties are the ones jumping in trying to start conflict. I just quoted an example above - mods?

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

How did I scalp? You're a goof. The trade I made was in the other guys favor.

My statement is factual.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

How did I scalp?

You sold something you got for free. You even received flack for it here in this thread.

You're a goof.

I think you continue to try and prove my point diligently at every turn.

My statement is factual.

Please show everyone the facts that lead you to the specific "blame ratio" of 50/50, including who each of those 50's represents. That's rhetorical, I don't want to see this line of conversation continue and my reply is only in an effort to shut you down before you anger anyone else.

As far as your other recommendations, they're intended to incite and start conflict. The problem of allowing guests viewing this thread has been dealt with.

You have all but guaranteed yourself exclusion from any such private thread or community effort in the future, though I'm not sure if that was part of your goal.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

Its noble and mature for the ones apologizing, but in reading this, I'm disgusted by the actions and self entitlement of these callers. The wrong people are apologizing here.

Yes, heaven forbid in a forum where people get together in a thread initially intended to help others get codes entered in a timely fashion that some who didn't wade through 100's of pages of posts may have been fooled by a fake code and made a call to find out why. There are many different types of people out there, not all of them have the same amount of common sense or are so naïve they believe everything they read . The ones that need to apologize were the ones posting fake codes in the first place. I for one hope they do not have any codes next time. Its not fair to their customer service representatives. Being that I have worked in customer service my whole life I would not want to go through another round of angry customers calling in because another person lied to them about a discount we were offering. Someone always has to spoil a good thing. The joke was meant for people to type in the wrong code and congratulations they did. I hope they had a good laugh because the funniest part is you probably lost money in the long run because SS will probably decide it gives them the perfect reason to stop issuing the codes. Happy Halloween. This comes from someone who never entered a wrong code. Expired codes yes, wrong codes no.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

Hey guys. It looks like most of the Spooktacular codes are still active. If I place and order and use a code, do you think Sideshow will still honor the sale? Just curious. Thinking about picking up HT Zod.

Yes, products specific codes have set expiry dates and the ability to be saved in your code wallet for future use. Some expired yesterday, some expire tomorrow, some expire as far forward as a week from now.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

I think a good idea for Sideshow if they want to stick with reward codes during Spooktacular might be to remove the quick time limits on the codes--the whole ten minutes thing just breeds frustration with some people and also might contribute to some people calling customer service. If each code was active for 24 hours people would have plenty of time to browse the thread and figure out that someone on the board had tricked them into typing a fake code and that the problem wasn't Sideshow, or their web browser, or whatever else.

If it was me running Spooktacular I wouldn't put out codes at all though. I'd stick to the discounts; I think they convinced a lot of people to order stuff they ordinarily might have passed on. That's how Sideshow got me to pick up The Crow and The Mandarin.

By the way, are women invited to the Sandbox thread? Yes? Yes? No? Yes? Yes? No?

Apart from maybe the dentist guy, I don't think folks were harassing CS because they were entitled. Just a bit clueless as to the jokes and unable to pick up on the very clear context surrounding the joke posts--you would see multiple posts in succession when a code was legit about the fact that they were up, that they used them, etc. I think this is unfortunately if it affects SSC's future behavior, but eh, what are you gonna do? People were here trying to have some fun, due in large part to the fact that SSC took away a good chunk of the fun from the past it its transition to Twitter/Facebook contests, no chat, very little interaction with the board, etc. If that led to unintended consequences then oh, well. I think it would be ridiculous to threaten to sanction people for posting jokes about the codes or whatever.

When did I become a dentist?

This makes no sense. There is no justification for the way people behave towards Sideshow's customer servics reps, you can't go blame it on the people posting fake codes. People are responsible for their own actions and how they behave towards others. If you are going to act like a childish entitled fool towards some customer service rep over a $5 code than you are a tool plain and simple. Further more if your not bothering to actually participate in the thread, other than snagging codes, than you probably deserved to get tricked by a fake code or two. It's a shame that it disrupted Sideshow, and I'm sure the people who were responsible are sorry for the inconvenience they caused and will refrain from such pranks in the future. But the true villains are the self absorbed DB's who were to lazy to participate in the fun, other than preying on others generosity, and then treating SS reps like crap over a $5 code. Seriously let that sink in for a moment, a freaking $5 code.

Why do those who have the least invested feel the most entitled? Without fail. Or, in this case, plenty of fail.

The ones who did post fake codes did apologize, hence my remark the "wrong ones" ... meaning the people who treated CS harshly. They had no right to speak to them [CS] that way over a generous handout. The proverbial, don't bite the hand that feeds you here is directed at that those berating CS as Alex described. If we lose free RP codes its because of them not the ones who posted. The callers took it to a whole other level. And if you hope they don't have codes next year, you should just avoid any SS promotions in the future and mind your business. Especially seeing as you received a few RP codes, funny.

As described by Alex, the callers behavior was unacceptable, any ordinary reasonable prudent person would not, thereby leaving the self entitled. To demand money or compensation not earned, as another put it, is just that short of a criminal act.

In the end, my post clearly meant, those who treated SS CS with disrespect are the ones who [more-so] need to apologize

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

Oh hey, looks like everyone took the Delorian back to yesterday. I was pretty sure this conversation was dead. Thank you to everyone that brought it back to life.

As for the comment that the goal was to get people to post fake codes....that just shows you have no common sense (which isn't actually that common), people were posting them to joke around and have fun with each other in the thread, they were not to try and fake people out and they were definitely not meant to cause issues with SS CS. Any person that calls in to any CS and starts yelling, insulting or being an ahole to a person on the other end of the phone is the person that has major issues and needs to seek help. There is never any reason no matter what the issue to yell and scream at a stranger over the phone. Not to mention, I find if you are super nice to CS they are more likely to make exceptions and help you out more.

Now to change subjects again, I was able to broker a deal and got my Gandalf the Grey EX Statue last night. :)

People like that never apologize, and sadly I'm not surprised to see people coming in here and actually defending that kind of behavior, minimizing it, and passing the blame.
