How should we divide the custom sales from the custom show-off threads?

  • We shouldn't - it's fine the way it is.

This will mean cutting down commissions because only people with 50 posts, who've been here for 2 months will be able to get on board to get a head or whatever. It will greatly effect the ability to get projects done where we need 15 people or w/e to get a head made, mark my words, it will lead to even fewer customs being made and shown here.

Theres really nothing wrong, we have a show your shelves section right above this that would seem to be exactly what it is people want, a place to just show there work. :dunno

Well if it becomes a separate forum under customs, that won't be a problem.

And if it did go to to the Marketplace - those posts would be moderated, which could be approved and appear if it is for people signing up in an interest thread.

I would be very surprised if these custom projects decreased in number.

I think Interest Threads in the Marketplace would just clutter the Marketplace more. A separate section in the customs section for Interest would be better and more manageable I think.

I think it would be its own section under the Marketplace forum...so it wouldn't clutter up regular commerce threads.

Leave it the way it is. Is it really harder to click to page 2 than to click back and go to another forum?

Agree, leave it the way it is. If it's custom, show it here. If it's also for sale, even better, but don't separate them.

Add a separate forum in Customs for all sales and interest threads.

I can me the moderator if everybody want that also; lol

I went with this as for choices
Add a separate forum in Customs for all sales and interest threads.

And also Vote Seb for Mod

Either way it was never a problem for me, but seperate forum for Interest threads is cool.

I think separate forum in the customs section would be the way to go... that way all of these kinds of projects are kept in the same general area, but there is room for both to breath easier.

The market place option isn't bad, but I think it would lead to more confusion and does lead to some restrictions on who can join a commission.

Not a fan of the tags, they don't seem to get used often and really we'd just end up with 90% of the tags saying "Interest" or "Sales" and we'd still have the same issue.

That is a good idea but I think customs should remain in the customs section. I rarely visit the Marketplace. I am a creature of habit.

Seems to me that existing, one-off customs folks are selling could be sold in the marketplace just like anything else as they are. But threads devoted to custom projects that are also for sale would make sense in their own sub-forum. I would probably like it better as a sub-forum to the custom section since those are really as much (or more) discussion than actual sales talk anyway, and so it would seem a better fit there than the commerce section--where discussion seems generally frowned upon (unless you are Skiman).

voted #2, but still think the idea of adding subforums under all the licenses is the best idea.

So if the customs section had a commerce sub-forum, someone showing a OOAK 'not for sale' head sculpt, for example, would post that in the regular section while someone with a sculpt that was for sale would only be allowed to post pictures of it in the 'custom commerce' sub-section or could there be an additional 'look at this sculpt' thread in the main custom section? If there could be a 'look at this sculpt' thread in the main section I don't see how that is any different than the way it is setup now. :dunno Maybe make the custom commerce a regular forum among the other art forums instead of a sub forum? And the idea of breaking the customs section into sub forums under each licenses like the SW one could work though more hassle to browse through each regularly.

And relegating some of the best work around here which arguably gets the most posts and attention to a sub section doesn't seem like a great solution. Maybe make it a regular forum among the other art forums instead?

This is totally my point that people just don't seem to understand. You will not limit sale threads to some back area, the same threads will continue to pop up in the regular section.

Example (fake) month of March

Commerce Custom Section new forums :

Walking Dead Heads interest
Dude Figure for sale
Alex Delarge figure for sale
Einstein heads interest

Now comes may and all that stuff starts to ship and now guess what happens in the regular show your customs section

May

Regular Customs section :

Show your finished Walking Dead figure thread
Show your Dude thread
Show your Alex Thread
Show your finished Einstein thread.

and guess what threads are still getting bumped in the sale section.

Commerce Custom Section new forums :

Walking Dead Heads
Dude Figure
Alex Delarge figure
Einstein heads

Your doubling the amount of threads instead of limiting them more, and on top of that there are still going to be people who only click on the show your Dude thread and ask "Hey where can I get a Dude like this" That sale discussion will spill over into the regular thread and the sales threads will get bumped with people showing off wips.

Your threads will still get pushed just as far back and we'll need twice the moderation at double the bandwidth, its exactly what happened last time.

Cluttered as ____. Mark my words.

I won't doubt that there will be multiple threads, but at least the main custom section won't have the threads constantly bumped with the "add me" or "any updates" or "money sent" or "why did you steal my money" or "it arrived but the quality sucks" from 10-20 people.

Again, the solution is that all the minutae of selling an item should be done in Pms. People who are here to collect and have fun shouldn't have to put up with you running your business. You don't see the dealers or sellers spamming the normal forums with all that.

Or...

CustomizerA has one master thread... he posts his work in it and people express interest to buy. Then a new thread is started in commerce subforum to soley discuss that item. One thread for CustomzerA in the customs section to show new works and as many as he needs in the customs commerce section.

Those threads could both serve as places to show off the final product in the hands of collectors... or they show the work in their own thread if they choose to have one.

Or... new person shows off work in the general custom section... gets a lot of interest then creates a new commission/interest thread and the old one drops off. Also, it could even be requested that a mod move the thread if it morphs into a sales situation.

It doesn't have to be that complicated, I think we are all savvy enough to understand how to make this happen.

While I voted for #2 I do think there is logic in this ^^^ There will be the same amount of posts per-say but also an additional sales thread in the (whatever it would be) sub forum.

Regular Customs Section:

Hey, check this out (shows the original)... Then go HERE (Customs sales section) to buy or show interest.

Hmmmm.....

I'd rather have the Bandwidth goto putting the personal photo galleries back up that we use to have at the bottom of the first page.
