Started this game last nignt - it's interesting - though I have to say some of the controls are a bit shoddy. I got the PS3 version because it came with the "Epic Poem" which I thought might actually be spoken or have some visuals or something - but is really just the dang poem that you can read - which is a waste since I already have 2 copies of the Divine Comedy.

Anyway, rambling - I know people hate the GOW reference, but dang does it apply well here. Only thing is I like the way the controls for GOW are set up better. There are too many things in this game that are beyond frustrating.

Other than me wanting to smash my controller to bits on occasion, it's an interesting story....though it does seem to fly by past. I started this last night after Bioshock2, played for a couple hours and I'm already heading into the 5th circle of Hell. I have a feeling this game will be over before I know it.

After playing the demo on both 360 & PS3 I decided to get the game on 360, despite the free digital extras on the PS3. The controls are just that much better in the 360 version for whatever reason.

I finished the game in 7 hours, 15 minutes. However, it does unlock some additional modes and the upcoming DLC (with online co-op!) looks pretty cool.

Also, I know that EA hates the notion of true console exclusives (mostly because they are utter whores for as many unit sales as possible for stockholders) but in retrospect this game really would have been much better served as a 360 exclusive. GOW III is coming out in just over a month, and this can't touch that for PS3 owners. It also suffers in the controls department (which I stated above). And for 360-only owners it would have offered a decent GOW alternative and might have generated a little more buzz among gamers if it were an exclusive. Instead, EA went with the usual carpet-bombing strategy... complete with a $3 million Super Bowl ad.

I don't have a problem with the controls. Just need to get used to it I guess. 360 has Ninja Gaiden even though the PS3 gets the Sigma version later down the road. I've preferred that game to God of War for quite a while.

This game is a blast for sure. The graphics, game play, and sound are quite good. Most of the achievements are easy to get or will be with a couple of play throughs. I've managed to get the 50 and 200 hit combos and got up 500 but that 666 one will be a giant pain in the butt. I don't have a care about the content of the game but some parts I've seen I can't believe they got in the game even with a M rating.

I don't think the Combo count system in the game was that good, due to the controls.
Sure I got the 50 hit count but the 200 hit I tried but couldn't be 'bothered' while the 666 hit combo was just a waste of time

The combo system is just like GOW. At least for me it seemed that way playing the game. Like I said I got the 50 and 200 pretty easy and was painstakingly close to the 666 one when I got well over 500.

The combo count is like GOW's true. However, to me anyway, the God of War combat counter seems more fluid, due to the fact the combat is more responsive in God of War, Dante's Inferno Combat seemed 'stiff' and 'cumbersome'. Maybe I play too much God of War :monkey3

The 666 combo really isn't that hard. Towards the end there's a part that you can spam hits and enemies keep respawning.

I think I know the part you're talking about. Probably where I got to 500 at. U get the 666 one yet?

I don't know. I found the same way I play GOW to work with this one. Either way both games are very fun to play.

Finished the game. Gotta say it was OK. I had hoped for better since it's such a great premise with so much potential.

Will be trading this one in for GOW3...don't see myself playing it again.

Am curious though if anyone went the unholy route....what was the ending? Or were they the same?

All the same I believe, but the ending sets it up for a Sequel to Dante's Inferno, which I would be curious too see.

I did the holy path this play through. The next I'll do the unholy path plus theres still DLC for this to add more plus the Gates of Hell which should be fun. This game has plenty of life left in it.

Yeah, I finished the Gates of Hell in one sitting. Kinda surprised it stopped after Level 50. Figured 66, at least. Oh well... still pretty fun!

I played through the game on Normal. Here's a cheat though....you can change the difficulty at any time in the game and it won't reset anything. In fact, there's no trophies for beating the game on the harder difficulties, only for completing the game. I have to return the game tonight, but I'll rent it in a couple months again to get the remaining 4 trophies I need for 100%

I'm playing my first play through right now on the highest difficulty setting I could choose(I think it was called 'Hellish') and it's giving me quite the challenge. Some of the save spots are a little frustrating, but over all I'm enjoying it.

need to finish this game but looking forward to the trials of st.lucia dlc

anyone played the dark forest dlc?
