Genius article and sooooo very true. I'm really suprised with the popularity of NECA's Labyrinth pieces that they haven't gone after this MUCH NEEDED franchise...

So, Neca's Jareth figures sell well? I hope they'll do a Hoggle too.
And of course all Dark Crystal characters!

Yes, the Jareth figure has done quite well, especially for being in a stand alone figure and not in a series. Hoggle is coming as well as some goblins though it has not been annouced how they will be released.

Yes, I've seen the NECA pieces and I think they're very very good.
I wonder when they'll release Hoggle and the Goblins.
NECA should really do a Dark Crystal line.

I finally picked up the Jared 7-inch, figure it will go well with the few other Labyrinth Plan B busts I have. I also picked up a 12-inch Jared, which I hadn't seen before, also by Neca. I think he has sound.

Is that the only Labyrinth figure out there: NECA Jared and 3 plan B busts?

I have both the old original SST 12" figures, got them both when they first came out, seem to rememer at the time they shifted very slowley, and I saw quite a few on discount at the time (in UK comic shops), my figures were on my daughters shelf for a few years but have been in storage since we moved house a couple of years ago.

I was a big fan of Brian Froud before the movie was released and had met him at a galary signing in my local town, Hitchin in about 1980/81 (I was about 13 or 14). Many of his originals were on show and I remember marveling at the detail. I talked to him for a while and we discussed some of the things I was into, one being obviously Star Wars, he said he'd let me in on a secret, that he was working with Frank Oz and Jim Henson on the designs for a new film, he couldn't let me know it's name, but said I'd recognise his work when it came out, and that if I thought Yoda was cool in Empire wait till I saw this.
He signed my copy of Faeries, which I had brought with me, and I still credit that meeting and brief discussion as one of the things that led to me becoming an illustrator myself.

I don't know if anyone posted these, but here are a couple of Michael Crawfords old reviews-

Very cool story Wookster! I'd love to meet Froud someday but I don't think he does East Coast US shows...

As for Labyrinth, I was never a huge fan as a kid but I recently just picked up a copy on sale to give it another view. I remember liking the characters but hating the musical sequence. That kind of killed it for me...

Officially, yes.
There was a Hoggle resin kit and also a Jareth with base and Goblins.
Hoggle is on Ebay right now.

I've seen the Hoggle resin kit, wasn't that interested. What's this about Jareth and goblin base? another resin kit?

Wow, does are cool!! And pricey!
Hey Skulpturen, I just realized you're Lazlo from the Muppet Central forums right?
I posted the Mindstyle thread over there a few weeks ago...I've always been a fan of your awesome work! YOu should post some pics of your Dark Crystal castle, it's awesome!!

I started doing a Mystic with Sculpey a couple of years ago and I haven't made a lot of progress...it's quite the challenge for a first sculpt...:lol

I heard about that Aughra and can't wait to see it! I'm sure it will be released eventually. From what i've heard this series should go on for a littel while and they are also planning color variants as well... BTW, GREAT PICS CAhobbit! What #'s did you get?

I'd love to get some pics but all my stuff is still boxed due to lack of room. I'm getting my new Detolf next week and it will be solely dedicated to The Dark Crystal. So pics will follow...

*Whew*

Finally remembered to hunt down my keychains for my two figures.

Landstrider figure: #441
Mystic figure: #498

Nice! Did you get yours from Toy Tokyo as well? I'm still trying to find out info about the release of these. What i've heard is that Toy Tokyo had a limited amount to be sold at SDCC. My guess is that what they had up for sale on the site is just leftovers. I still haven't heard of an official release anywhere and no other site has had them for sale...

As for my #'s:
Landstrider: #318
Urac: #26

Yes it's me!
I'm glad you like my work.
Good luck with your Mystic sculpt! I know it's a difficult subject (like everything Dark Crystal) but patience often pays off.

Here is my Skeksis Castle:
