Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Ok, well....got on a painting spree this weekend... (waiting on my current commissions to arrive) and repainted Luke. I am very pleased with how he turned out... but like with Anakin... I only have a few decent pics to show you...until tomorrow when I have a few with sunlight.

He looks fantastic in person, way better than he does here... And after taking these I noticed his right eye was smaller than his left and corrected that. So tomorrow expect better lighting AND a fixed eye. :D

I really like the outfit.
Nice job!

Thanks man!! That costume took a LOT of work and time to get just right. I really can't wait to get another Obi-Wan so that I can get him a dueling partner. :D

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

You know Josh, Luke is one figure I always thought was painted extremely well in factory paint apps and left very little room for improvement. In fact some of the repaints I've seen are not so good but I think you have done a great job there, his eyes, eyelids (?) look more "Hamillish" so congrats buddy!:D

Thanks Paul.... Y'know? It was for that very same reason that he had remained untouched for sooo long. He was the best right out of the box. And for that I was afraid to ruin him. But I was very pleasantly surprised to see how he turned out.

But damn was it a scary experience painting him!!! :lol

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

That's how i felt too. There's nothing scarier than painting over a perfectly good paintjob. At least with the bad paintjobs, you know you can't help but improve it, Like your Anakin.

Luke looks great! Can't wait to see him finished. You're on a roll!!

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Yes my friend!
This is a great job you have done. Luke looks terrific, as does your Anakin.
Keep on rollin' bro!

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Your Jason repaint look way better than last time.It has a lot of depth in the mask. The eyes look super nice also.

Your anakin looks really nice better lips and brows. He looks less tanned also which is great.Luke looks really nice as well, less bugged eyed:D

Great work as always
Matty

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

That's a really good paint job. The eyes on the cat look so life-like. The texturing on the hair looks so natural. Your talents never cease to amaze, Josh. ;)

Ditto! Damn, that kitty is AMAZINGLY LIFELIKE, maybe you can use the same fur techniques on a Chewbacca! :lol

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Ok guys....painted my Obi-Wan last night... thought I would share it with you. I corrected Ewan's eye color as well... just to be "actor" accurate and not exactly character accurate...

The clothes took to the water treatment well, but beware the belt... it DOES stain the sash! Found out the hard way. Overall, I am Very very happy with him... just a great figure. The beard and hair look different in several of these pics and that is because of the lighting. Sometimes the red shows, sometimes the blond. I will put a flash pic in there as well to show the color treatment... just for those curious.

Yeah, that cat is very curious... :lol

When he breathes, he has this respirator noise that just makes me laugh...I always call him "Cat Vader"...:vader

Hilarious animal though....

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Great Obi repaint!!! The best I have seen done for him yet. I actually really really like the eyes!!! Give him a little something extra! Another home run hit for Josh.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thanks a lot Chase... Hopefully tomorrow I can get some really nice daylight pics. Most of the ones I took today did not come out the way I wanted them to...

The eyes really sell it though.... they took a good while to get right...:D

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Very nice Josh! The flesh tones are excellent and I see you used a similar but different color palate for the hair and beard and he looks terrific. :D

Btw, my now "famous" Josh repainted Obi head came today and I am still stunned by it. At first the hair and beard looked simple shades of light brown with no red in it at all, then in different sunlight it looked completely different, hair a bit darker and beard with blonde and reddish highlights. It's really trippy how the beard catches different lights and throws off different colors, sometimes blonder, other times light brown with reddish tones... in the shade almost brownish and in direct sunlight it almost appears fleshtoned, it's nuts I tell ya, NUTS! Like three different paintjobs in one, I am now calling like the "amazing miracle color changing Obi head!!!" :D

Thanks so much Josh, will have it mounted tomorrow, it is actually still a bit tacky so he is staring out an open window looking west towards the Pacific!

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Hello everyone... I just wanted to come on here and give you guys an update. I know it's been quiet on the DA front for a week or so now...

I'm up to my neck in repaints and am working through them as we speak. I'm almost finished with a couple from Khev and Pickard as well as others... and I still haven't touched my Qui-Gon and Mace yet. But expect progress soon on that front.

My Dad's Tattoo shop is almost finished, so that is where I have been for most of this weekend... Trying to get the finishing touches on that. AND a guy I know on the F13 boards is paying me to put together a nice Jason costume for him, to look like Part 7's Jason. So, that is gonna keep me tied up for a good while.

But I'd say that all of this has put me behind about a week or so.... not too bad, but still. For those waiting.... I promise to get to work on them ASAP. And I should have them done in time for next Monday if I'm lucky.

:D
