Watch this thread later this weekend... As I reveal what I've done for the dead.... :D

Can't wait bro!

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

I can't wait to see your Docto, Josh! You do amazing blood and gore work!

And your Wolvie is magnificent! I can't wait to get my hands on one. I'm not really sure what could be done with the costume. Wouldn't want to tear it up, but maybe the slightest touch of drybrushing could cut the sheen....

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

I finished painting my Subject 57... here is a tease before tomorrow when I can take real pics...:D

Looks sick! Nice job, Josh.......did you use real blood?

:lol Yeah!.... Why?? Did the cops ask you anything?? :devil

I just love painting gory figures, always makes it a little more fun and you can play around a bit. With this one I wanted a very fresh looking Zombie, that perhaps... with his being in the hospital, had access to quite a bit of available "meals". I wanted his shoes to look as if he had drug them through puddles of blood and gore as he shambled his way room to room, making his rounds and feeding on the bed ridden patients.

Also thought it would be interesting to pose him with the syringe... as if the human side of him did not want to let go of what he once was. He probably has no idea what it is or what it's used for, but he holds on because it is HIS.

Probably overthinking things... but still a lot of fun.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

I love it Josh! Very well done, I especially like how he has a very drained look to his skin... it fits the sculpt very well. I also like the insane amounts of blood on his shoes and pant legs... kinda like he's be walking through a lot of nasty remains!

Thanks Joseph! That is exactly what I was going for! The sculpt of the hands and face had bones and veins popping everywhere, as if he was dried up a bit... So I wanted to heighten that effect. And he was in a hospital so you KNOW he had plenty of stuff around to slosh around in... :lol

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Hold on!!!!!! Where's Rambo's head?

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

That doc is VERY SICK... in a good way though. You vastly improved this figure. The bite on his arm is revoulting, but again, in a good way. Adding the pupils also adds to him. Very awesome.

If Patient Zero wasn't so rare/valuable I'd have loved to see you repaint him. Who knows, it could have even increased in value from it.

Your Subject 5 also looks fantastic. Any chance of more pics of him (or point me in the direction of where they are)? I can't wait for more of these guys (and your repaints of them). I have all 4 right now and I must say they look even better in a group. Having the docs with/without coat also helps keep them from looking the same. I have one with the syringe and the other holding the scalpal too (fits between index and middle finger of left hand).

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Just awesome job Josh.

I think you brought much more life to the character. Were as before, he was a pale faced, emotionless, "life"less corpse, your paint job has brought more suffering to him.

With the eyes now painted in, it gives him much more sorrowful look.

Instead of looking like a mindless zombie he looks like he is truly in agony and pain.

IMHO, this is my favorite repaint you have done on a figure. Its not that you just touched up a bad paint app, but you totally changed the complexity of the character.

Awesome job Josh!!!

I completely agree. The thing is we are starting to sound like art-geeks more than collectors now :lol I for one am really into Sideshow's Dead storyline and this repaint really adds a lot of depth to it. Fantastic job. Beyond words.

Incase you miss it in the 57 image thread:

Its the origin video from DNAgent. Don't know if this "research" will help in anyway though.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Ok guys... Les just left and I thought I would post the story while it was still fresh in my mind... So here is his visit and FX con trip from my point of view... :D

It all started with the FM getting a little lost and us meeting in town at Target to lead him towards my house. Ocala can be a little confusing for a newcomer, I know.... I had similiar problems when I first moved here... It's damn near Labyrinth-esque. :lol

Upon arrival I showed off my very small collection room and work area. Les was excited and seemed to still be blown away by it, so that's all that matters. Still a very small collection in comparison to his own...

We talked shop and I showed him some work in progress stuff (top secret) :monkey1, and my fiance made us dinner. We started having this very deep conversation involving everything from our painting experiences to Egyptology and the history of the world in general. It was a marathon of ideas and theories that would have driven Einstein insane... But what a great conversation it was.

We prepared ourselves for the Con the next day, directions and all that... and hit the sack.

The next morning was a breeze, we got up and ready in a little over a half hour and were out the door and on the road towards Orlando.... :rock

We arrived at the Convention center earlier than we thought and got a very nice parking spot, started our walk to acquire our tickets and enter "geek heaven".... :lol
