Wolvie, as ever, looks phenomenal (now a part of my refernce material, thanks),

I love how we all use each others good repaints as reference material for our own, along with the real photos :)

It's true... And it does help. I know that yesterday while watching ROTS all I could think about was how your sculpt is 100% dead on with Obi-Wan.. :lol

You've altered the arms somehow to, haven't you? I just noticed Yoda's hand at his chest....

Not really.... I've just played with the articulation a lot while he was "naked" and got a pose I liked, with his hand on the edge of his robe. So far I have weathered the thread of his costume to look more worn and will be finishing the weathering with paint soon to get that slightly dirty look. Already did the water treatment.

With the skin I painted him several shades of green until I thought I had it close to what I wanted and then dirtied him up a bit. Yoda in Empire was never really clean, the puppet was always highlighted in browns in several areas so I tried to replicate that without making it look too gross...:lol

I just have the hair and eyes left and he is done!

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

That is just beautiful, Josh! Wow! He's amazing. Take more pics please. He's so life-like! What prompted the decision to paint his eyes off to the side? It works really well.

Bravo! :bow

Thanks Mikey! It was a tricky decision with the eyes.... I just looked at it when it was static and without pupils... watched a few scenes from Empire and I came up with the idea. Also if you notice, on the sculpt the eye area is sculpted larger on the right side of the face than the left.... so it works perfectly!

I'll post better pics this weekend when I am able to get some sunlight... :lol

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

excellent work, the eyes look amazing. I'm really gonna have to work on my eyes...

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thank you... everyone!!

He's one of my faves on the shelf now and I'm glad you guys like him. Easy to paint too, very quick and painless!

And thanks Mike... I hope you do!! :rock (and keep a look out for pics in your PM box this weekend... :winkpumpk)

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Whoo-hoo! I've been eagerly awaiting this one, conceptually it looked great in my mind's eye but the execution I was anxious about. I'm definitely glad I left it in your hands. As for the Yoda, I might just do that although looking at my collection the sudden urge to just box it all up and send on down is overwhelming...:lol

Great shots Josh!
Your paint on that is unreal!
One of your all-time best. The eyes have it! :D

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Dang it Josh, your work just amazes me. I love Yoda's fingernails. If I still had my Dead figures, I would surely be sending them to you man. Absolutely phenomonous!!! (Yes, phenomonous). :rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Wow, thanks guys!! :rock2

Yeah, Pix... the nails were tough to do... I didn't want them to look painted on yellow like the factory had done it so I painted them green and sent over that with several layers of watered down yellowish green until it had a look of something almost transparent but still thick. It was tough... but fun.

I also used this technique on another project that will be revealed in time... worked to great effect!
