Man I want to love this piece but deep down in my heart I feel he is more lobo sized and not Apocalypse sized. Having seen Lobo at my lCS next to superman and Batman I did not think his size justified the $600 price tag. I will give credit and thought a lot of detail went into him. Also, when looking at Lobo I could just tell he was hollow egg shell on the inside. I cant explain it but I'm starting to feel like I can visually see a difference in the surface texture when a piece is hollow vs the older more solid cast pieces. I guess all I'm saying is at this point I don't feel like I'm getting my $600 worth from SS on this one.

:lol:lol:lol I'm sorry, but that just sounds ludicrous.

"Man, I tell you...Sideshow is just so cheap these days! I mean...you can see right through their hollow casts. They suck!!!", said the bandwagoning, Sideshow hater. (I'm not saying you are, just that it's a funny scenario)

Except for the fact that Lobo is as tall as Batman at his head and is on a shorter base and Batman is an Over Sized PF. That Means Lobo is effin huge

Yea man, Lobo is HUGE. Nemenforcer, how can you say he's the same size body-wise to either Batman or Superman?? I just don't see it.

I think his legs will be but his arms and chest will probably be about the same size. So I doubt Darkseid will be as big as Apocalypse. In all Honesty are we getting a big Darkseid yes, just not the Darkseid that should nearly be the size of the Gladiator Hulk we should have got.
I guess that all I wanted was the beefiness of Aoocalypse or GHulk

If darksied was like GH I would be happy! He's still too thin for that character.

Darkseid was originally an average sized character. Here are a couple pics of the first panels that showed his full figure.

Yeah, Kirby never really drew his characters as humongous. Just look at his Hulk. He's tiny when compared to the way artists draw the Hulk nowadays. I think that SSC gave Kirby a nice tip of the hat when this PF was made with an outstretched left hand. That's a classic Kirby pose and I'm happy that's as far as his influence goes on this PF. I'm a much bigger fan of the current look of Darkseid draw by more modern artists.

You don't like the cape? :lol

Here CBG, this is the perfect Darkseid for you.

Thank you! Yes this is good looks like darksied now. The new GG thanos reminds me of how big darksied should be. This should be like that. The skinny one was too retro unless this is suppose to be the Kirby version? The head and everything puts this at a modern darksied so he should be big and puffy in size.

No, not so much. :lol I respect the hell out of Kirby and what he meant to the industry but I have always liked the more modern take on these characters. I started reading comics when Byrne and Perez were giants in the industry. My love for comics and the way these characters look starts there and moves forward.

You've never even seen the way he looks in any comic book ever. Maybe you've seen him in some animated show or movie, but that's it. So you shouldn't have any say in how this piece should/would/could look.

I was at my LCS again and decided to take a pic to share with the group. I'll let each draw their own conclusions in terms of size.

As for Me, I wanted my Darkseid Dimensions to be more in line with

This piece is huge. About in line with Hulk pieces (Not as tall as Gladiator Hulk, but similar girth. It was wide and massive. It just felt big.

Pics I took last week.

I dunno....You're the only one saying that so I'll wait for more pics before I succumb. The apparent lack of size that I desire is keeping me at bay.

If we're talking about lobo yeah he's only a tad bigger than the reg PF like superman. Now apocalyse and GH is really bigger in size. I'm sure the bulk/ fatten size has something to do with GH and apocalpse. If they bulk darksied up he would be ok.

I'm digging him Bill. The sculpt was never in question for me personally. I think he looks fantastic. My only issue with the piece is the size to cost ratio. We were charged an Apocalypse/ Gladiator (King) Hulk cost for Darkseid ($600). I'm still not convinced we'll get the same bang for our $$$ because he seems undersized compared to those 2 pieces. Unless we can see Darkseid next to Apoc or G/H Hulk, we really don't get a sense of his scale. SSC definitely overcharged for Darkseid if he can't run with those big boys. Other than that, I have no issues with the piece. I certainly don't want a fat Darkseid like some peeps around here. He looks great as is if the scale on the piece holds up.
