Re: Darth Vader (Mythos) Statue

Not sure if its the daylight but your paint app looks beautiful and no where near as orange as I've seen

Oh yeah, this one is great. Sadly mine hasn't arrived yet. I've ordered it through a retailer here in Poland, so it will take a while before I eventually get it. This picture has been posted in this thread by someone else, I just took it and modified a bit out of boredom.

Re: Darth Vader (Mythos) Statue

Man, I'd really love it if they'd offer the clean undamaged version of this figure too, as seen in the prototype pictures - perhaps as an exclusive. The tattered look is just not for me.

It has symbolic meaning. this statue has been designed with helmet holding in his hand. If you take it into account it becomes obvious.
That is why I see no point why they have included so many accessories. I bought this statue just for this one pose as I feel that displaying it with different ones just makes no sense whatsoever.

I give kudos to SS for giving collectors display options as we all like different looks for certain characters. However, this piece is at it's best when posed with helmet in hand. As stated above, the meaning beyond it very easy to understand. The tattered clothing and battle damage add even more to that meaning.

Re: Darth Vader (Mythos) Statue

Just saw this one in my local comic book store - hate to be negative but the orange lava reflection effect was way overdone and did not look too good in my humble opinion.

in my opinion it is just a little bit overdone as well. It varies from piece to piece, but i think they could have toned it down a bit on every single one. I cancelled my order partly because of it. With all the "mistakes" (although I feel this word is not enough to describe SS actions) Sideshow made with mythos line I have no reason to trust them. And since this statue would cost me roughly 420$ I think it's not worth the risk. Especially if you take into account my poor luck with collectibles.
Anyways, maybe some day I will buy it, who knows.
It's a real shame SS yet again fails to nail down the details. The general concept behind this statue, the sculpt, etc makes this piece truly magnificent, something we haven't seen yet and probably won't see again. If they could only fully deliver what is expected of them, it would be the best manufacturer of collector's statues on the planet.

The Glow on the Back of the helmet is the biggest problem. I can't understand how that got approved. Awful.

It looks fine on the prototype whichw as displayed on SDCC. The only problem is Chinesee workers don't have enough time to take care of proper implemnentation of paint, and glow on the helmet is very tricky.

Still waiting for the arm replacements to get in and order.

I think the idea is that the lava would extend out... although obviously the base doesn't. I think it looks pretty nice although many of the production pieces are a bit iffy. It might have been a better effect to have an actual light up base to provide the glow and no orange paint. That way it should look more natural and those who don't like the look can turn it off... win win.

I was going to get one of these but I lost a bit of enthusiasm for it along the way, maybe when my Boba arrives I might change my mind, we'll see...

Re: Darth Vader (Mythos) Statue

My Boba arrived and is awesome, been admiring him and Ben for quite awhile now...

But Vader has yet to grow on me. Maybe if I had one in hand, but alas, I'm too poor.

Re: Darth Vader (Mythos) Statue

Yeah, having an ES of 5000 doesn't help, no way you are making your money back on this if you decide it isn't right for you...

One would think.
Perhaps they're keeping the light up features exclusively for their PF line. Who knows...

That's certainly a lot out there if they all sell.
I'm guessing this one will be marked down before selling out due that huge ES.

I don't know about marked down. This IS Darth Vader....

Re: Darth Vader (Mythos) Statue

I wish I could understand a reason for this disgusting picture to be added here. Pathetic.
