I'm going to get one. Just not directly from Sideshow. I'm not suprised at the price. If I remember, the Iron Man 1:2 figure was almost exactly the same price, but could be found much cheaper from BBTS and other retailers.

Seeing it at Comic-Con I personally think 2k is a fair price for this.

Fair doesn't equal reasonable though. Obviously this will fall into the category where a select few buy it, ones that probably collect every bust and 1:1.

Your not going to beat SSC shipping prices especially if you are an International buyer.

These are marketed for a certain market so really its is reasonable for them. The new skin method they're using, detail, fabric, light up sabers, etc. Its fair for what people will be getting based on what I saw at comic-con. I love Darth Maul but I'm gonna pass if I get any it will be from LOTR and someone like Sauron, GTG, etc.

Funny that I joked about the figure being 1,999.99 and how important the 9's are . haha But from a business perspective, how many does SSC figure to sell?

2K!!!!! I think SSC has gone off the deep end with the pricing; it looks to be about $500 overpriced IMO. I was going to go all in with this line but may end up passing on most of them now. Time to meditate on what direction my collection is going.

They confirmed it for Obi, but not Maul.

:lecture That’s right you have a point and it was suppose to give the skin a more sense of depth if I’m not mistaken. So are they going to be using this material for all the LSF or just certain ones?

The SDCC panel video specifically said that they were using the intrinsic resin on Obi's head and hands for the translucent effect. No mention of it when they got to Maul. Whether it would make a difference for him being covered in tats and all, who knows. I'd bet on Sideshow cutting costs whenever possible.

1299.99-1399.99 would have sold me. I think everyone was figuring over 1,000.

Yeah, over 1k was an easy guess. I came away from comic-con after seeing them and hearing the details of how they would be made expecting no less than $1500 and most likely prices near 2k.

Well, I'm 99.99% sure its being used on Maul and all the LSF as thats one of the big selling points. That was how I took what was said to a group of us talking to one of the SS folks looking at these during Preview night.
