Well, I'm torn between this and the Alien maquette. If I get the Vader bust it will cost more, and, with SS's non maquette stuff, I won't know what I'll get. At least with the Alien maquette I know I'll get exactly what I'm seeing. But, you know I kinda have a feeling that SS wouldn't charge $1200 for a piece and not deliver the goods on it, but I could be wrong.

The busts seem in general to be recieved very well from collectors... I have high hopes and I've put my money down. But, at the same time if this arrives and isn't up to par, I'll return it and make a stink about my $250.

I know Iron Man had issues, but in my personal ownership experience with 1:1s and a number of 1:1 receipts around here, they seem to come through without a problem for the most part. The only ones I'm aware of issues reported with are Iron Man and the clean Endo skull. I believe the Vader mask may be made of fiberglass, it's listed on the product specs so I assume that's the mask pieces, so that might spare Vader from issues with it being a different type of material than the other busts that've had issues.

This is SS's big chance to show that the Iron Man debacle was an isolated incident... if this has the same kind of issues, its gonna hit their customer base in a large, bad, and permanent way. If it comes out great the first time, they will have shown that they still have what their previous rep claims they did.

get this! this is one that will grow old with you. I'm not so certain that my 12" can do that for me :D

agreed. but preorders in my country won't start until way after the sdcc is over anyway. so i've still got time to think it over. this is a LOT of money to put down.

plus the fact that sideshow's recent track record for production pieces not living up to the proto are a MAJOR reason why i'm holding back.

i thought of waiting til the hype dies down and we have more reliable/detailed pics to refer to before taking the plunge... :D

BBTS now has this available for $1129.99, and they are not charging a deposit! I have placed my order with them so I can have one reserved while I think this over. BBTS has great service, BTW.

1100 plus shipping for people in CA is a great deal - and Mike is a top notch guy.

I ordered mine from BBTS (thanks again Icruise ;)), but if Mike at Razor's will give me a better deal I'll pre-order the bust with him.

Could always have a custom stand as well. :monkey1
To get it just right for supporting this thing and the weight and time to figure that out, probably run you much more than the $50 Sideshow wants.

Maybe, but for me it is not just $50, it is about costly international shipping where Sideshow uses the most expensive company (stupid FedEx who damaged my 1:6 Vader in customs), plus 19% VAT tax and customs charges. So if it was only about $50 or even $100, I would have got the exclusive, but with everything, this could go $400 more.

I got mine from BBTS and my order will remain here; unfortunately Mike at Razor's has a bigger shipping price.

Just got done ordering the Ex.....now I just need to find a cardboard box big enough for me and it to live in when my wife finds out.

yeah i've been collecting SS long enough that my wife has a good guess at how much stuff costs so I had to tell her. She was fine with it as long as we go where she wants to for vacation next year...seemed like a fair deal.

Wow that went quick and if SS didn't have this deposit on the reg and ex on their website you can bet that they would be sold out as well.

Hard to say, BBTS is selling out of like 50 regular editions, Sideshow's probably making 1000 or so, maybe 50 each allotted to their distributors, so probably still about 500 at their own site.
