As far as I know, you have to remove the portrait to put the helmet on.

Correct, and to myself and a few other observers the human portrait did appear a bit undersized; but not to allow for the helmet to go over.

Now I'm not interested, if you have to take out the head to put the mask on.
I'd rather not have the portrait then, as most likely I would display as Vader with mask.
Thats gonna ruin the whole cool thing when people come over. Instead of saying - But wait, check this out. And slowly unmask him, like Luke.
Now it will be - Hey check this out. Hold on a second. Gotta take this off. Now wait. Gotta go over here. Get this head. OK one sec. Now lets carefully put this head on. OK there!

Crap, I wouldn't buy any of the exclusives if I lived overseas... at least not SW as the value just doesn't seem to be there.

And doesn't one of the images from the teaser video show the back of Vader's head with the ESB meditation chamber reveal?

nevermind just rewatched the video... its just the shaw portrait with the mask lowering onto it.

Bummer, that would be cool to have just the mask on and see the back of Anakins head.

i started reading your post and couldnt stop laughing, the stand holds the helmet, i dont think it holds the head or they would of showed pics. so where do you put the head :rotfl

Yeah the whole idea for me at least is having a place to display the helmet and mask rather than having to chuck it in the box and risk damage.

Vader is a big deal for me. So if the stand looks good, I might bite.

The fact that you have to remove the portrait has been mentioned a number of times in this thread, but I guess it's easy to miss with this much traffic. If you think about it, they probably wouldn't have made the head removable at all if you didn't have to take it out to put the mask on. I'm not really sure it's a big deal. The possibility of damage to the head (or of having to alter the sculpt or mask to ensure that they fit properly) outweighs any thrill you might get from showing your friends the complete "reveal" that one time.

Yup, I would say the head comes off either because it's the only way to put the full mask and helmet on, or because the neck collar portion of the mask comes off for safe packing and you have to assemble it all. The Grievous bust came with the head off for shipping.

Honestly who cares what your friends think? If you want to just show your stuff off and not care about it then why buy it? This thing is fantastic! I have seen it in person and can only hope that I can buy it. :bow

Well, if you had to put the mask and helmet ON the portrait, you'd probably ruin the portrait. What would it sit on, the head of course. It just wouldn't work. The concept is great, but reality is, it wouldn't work.

Ok, some updates on the Vader bust from P!tu's video on it.

The 2 on display at SDCC, according to Brant from Sideshow, are samples from China, not just prototypes, and he said that what we get should be pretty close to what is seen at the Con, VERY promising in regards to the eye paint job, if the production paint is of that level on the eyes, damn this will be an amazing bust to have.

Regarding the mask and Anakin head, it was mentioned, you have to remove the Anakin head to put the full mask on.

So there it is, confirmation of one thing, and some positive news, thanks for the tidbits P!tu.

Sounds great I'm so glad I ordered this!

When the portrait is being displayed in the bust, the helmet/mask combo can be
put on the stand but it will be incomplete - right? because the lower half of the
mask, i.e. the chin/neck part, will be with the portrait. I would think that
in this case the incomplete helmet/mask will look strange.

And that's why I stated this ask Sideshow to see if they could include an extra dummy neck... sadly I'm the only person who seems interested.

Extra neck for Vader Bust

i am going to display the portrait, put the helmet back in the box , because it will look incomplete without the neck collar. i will put my MR dual signature helmet next to it. problem solved. will love the display
