The more I look at mine the more I can't stand it. As a whole it's passable but if you look at its individual parts, for me the statue crumbles. One of these things is the boots. After glancing at them I asked myself if he had two left feet. The boots seem like they could've been sculpted better. I think for the price it should look good from every angle. Not one of us should have to ignore a part of their statue and live with it. I feel like I got ripped off.

You shouldn't, you knew what you were buying :| I'm really disappointed with this one. They seem like they executed the production pretty well but I just can't understand what they were thinking. We could have had an amazing vader, and sure it's got some better angles but even at it's best angle it's still a dumb vader pose. I can't believe they ****ed up what could have been an amazing vader :|

This piece looks pretty stellar, just not to you. The majority of online reviews have been very positive. "They" didn't **** up, you just don't happen to like it.

Apparently someone else is displeased as well In terms of execution they didn't do a bad job, however I think most could think of any number of poses that are more suited. If you're happy with it good for you, I think they did a poor job. Obviously this is my opinion, of which yours differs but apparently riblets is also a bit put out by it as well. You and others who say that is "stellar" is also "just to you". Obviously neither are a fact as it is a matter of personal perception as it is with pretty much everything.

The majority of online reviews are also "eh" cause they either come from people who don't really collect statues (if I recall correctly SS was throwing around quite a bit that IGN voted HB statue of the year a couple years ago, which no doubt was a great statue but certainly not even in the running for statue of the year). Or from people who bought it who often convince themselves to hold it in higher regard then it really should be. I still remember the original Red Sonja statue, after it released. So many people saying "oh it's great, amazing, so much better in person!" and now most say well I really hope the new one was better cause that was kinda ****.

Really though, if you say "it's the best 1/4th scale vader around" you would probably be right. Cause there aren't any others then SS' previous effort. However if there was actually some competition I feel like it wouldn't be very difficult at all to better this piece.

pretty much have to agree with this overall statement. Im sure once competitors Vaders in 1/4 will show up and get released ... people who force themeless to like it cause they happened to buy it .. or just needed a 1/4 vader in their collection, will hit eBay pretty fast.

I probably would have waited for the Hot Toys one if I didn't like the base on this one so much.
I do really like this PF but I'm not a really picky collector.

I am getting the Hot Toys Ren instead of the SS one though.

There are Vader's hitting eBay shipped below retail. I just can't pull the trigger on this yet, and I saw star wars as a kid 11 times in 1977. The pose bothers me. If he was not priced at 499.99 I would be less critical. Sadly with Sideshow 's high price, it comes at a higher scrutiny for me. 399.00 I would have it already. Just my opinion of course. Will wait for more to show up on eBay or just get Hot Toys 1/4 Vader, but not thrilled it's from episode III.

I would think with such a high ES on this one that eventually you should be able to get it below retail.
If the pose bothers you, you should wait for a different one for sure. It's a lot of money to spend on something that's going to bug you.

Maybe, unfortunately due to the nature licensing there aren't really a lot of competitors. XM's atm is a ROTS one and also is hella expensive. It'll be hella expensive for anybody in the west anyways so unless you live in the proper territories it would have to make up for that cost and I'm not sure if it can. I am leaning to the HT one a bit because of the poses it can do. I have some issues with the helmet though, I feel like it looks a bit too plasticy, especially the grills.

I spend a lot of time on the forums, and in general the SW section cause I like star wars. Apparently you're a very slow typer though cause that took me like a minute tops I also never said I hate it, I just said I'm disappointed and I think it sucks/they ****ed up. I actually spent quite a bit of time going back and forth on this piece in my mind because as aforementioned there's not really a lot of options. I certainly wouldn't PO, that's a waste of money. You can just get it cheaper if you wait a little bit, and I rather see how the production comes out. However after seeing the production I feel like they did a decent job there, but ultimately they still failed pretty hard in their base/pose design so I'm likely going to pass.

But sure you fall back on memes, I expect nothing less Maybe even throw a come at me bro in there somewhere too ^^

I'm not so sure that "I knew what I was getting into" as you say, dao2. The pictures on SSCs website looked great to me. The pose isn't the issue. It's the details, or lack thereof. They missed somethings which if they had done right wouldn't make me want to destroy this statue with a hammer. As long as you don't look too closely it's an okay piece.
